Hence context, of the verse in the whole of the chapter, AND context of the verse in the culture of the day, including customs and social norms for the place and time.

Dude, I love you!

Cultural context goes only so far - and at a point, can be used in virtually any argument. One has to read into the text itself (especially if the author, here paul) gives a reason that has nothing to do with the context therein.

@shiroi - yeah, I think it's been discussed adequately.
