Cussing

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Rusty Claymore » Sat Jan 15, 2011 11:09 pm

I may be a little late in the pain tolerence bit, but when I broke my hand I didn't swear and I didn't have to. ...If I did swear it was because I was angry at myself for doing it. I can't remember cause I was in shock... Anyways, I never used pain meds, even when they had to set it a second time, and I didn't swear.
So as far as the pain tolerence goes, the people swearing had to think about it, and that took their mind of the cold. I sometimes do the same thing, only inflicting pain somewhere else, like biting my arm during Iron Bridge workouts and such. I find the method described somewhat questionable, but regardless:
Is swearing good for you? Definitely. If you're in the pansy core. Real men take their pain pure. XP (said in my best Hanai voice)

Which would make sense, IF it wasn't for the fact that the experiment also had people repeat words that were not "bad" words. I think Jamie on Mythbusters had to repeat the words "fudge," "hossenfeffer," "fish," and so on. He had to think to say those words, and he still was not able to keep his hands in as long as when he used "bad" words.

So that proves the theory that "Because he was thinking about it it helped" wrong.

Speak for yourself! I like me some coffee. I am also partial to adding flavored creamer to it.

You know, I used to hate coffee, then I had to get up and be at work taking care of mentally handicapped people at 7 every morning. I was drinking it black within 3 weeks. There was just no other way to survive.

I can only drink coffee if about half of it is creamer. So I prefer Starbucks to places like say, Sheetz or Dunkin' Donuts (as far as coffee goes).

I've had coffee before, with a little cream or milk and sweetener. I think it's alright. But one afternoon I kept getting drowsy, so I had a cup. That was a bad idea--I became a bundle of jitters. So I'll only have coffee if I need to get up early, and I won't always do it even then.

I prefer regular to decaf when I do drink it, though. Drinking decaf seems so pointless to me. But my Mom drinks it all the time. XD

I've resorted to Mountain Dew, Monster, Rockstar, and various brands of energy gum/mints/lollipops to get my needed caffeine. Still cannot do coffee at all. My mom tries certain drinks from Starbucks and complains about how they "don't taste like coffee at all"; I'll drink the exact same one and can taste nothing but coffee.

I think the only way I could deal with drinking coffee is if I was swearing the whole time it went down to ease the pain of the horrible taste. #weakattempttogetbacktothetopic

Apparently water has more caffeine than coffee, so why do people put so much emphasis on drinking lots of water then if its so unhealthy?

I say a lot of bad words, but they are mainly used in ways that do not reflect bad against other people. And when it does, it is usually in a sarcastic tone or even doing it for glorifying reasons to said individual. I will admit I have my outbursts, but I feel I harbor no real ill intend towards others which I think matters more than the solely verbal elements as language is adaptive, and I suspect plenty of cuss words will not be considered to even be counted as cuss words in the future.

I know the tap water where I live has flouride in it, never heard of caffine though.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Maybe it depends on the country? Tap water in the US has flouride. Not caffeine.

I read the topic post and it just seems to me that playful bleeping is still slightly off topic. :P LOL I couldn't resist, Anne, derailing your slightly ontopic post, even though I'm still slightly on topic but I'm not totally on topic so I'm off topic, see? XD

LOL I was just teasing you Anne. :P But cussing, that is an interesting question as, I would say, I have two answers. I do believe it is wrong and ought not be done, but it is a sin I struggle with from time to time when I am frustrated.
