Best Anime of 2010: Tournament-style

The real heart of CAA; discuss specific series, issues, and things related to anime here.

In order to qualify for an Academy nomination, a film must have a theatrical release. Are you telling me, Falx, that had you been on the board of the Academy, and had the extended edition of Return of the King received a theatrical premiere, you would defend its inclusion in the 2004 Academy Awards and possibly have voted for it over other contenders?

This quibbling is a bit silly? This isn't the Academy Awards, this is blkmage's awards and to compare the two is a little out there.

Wow. Point missed entirely.

Let's try this again.

I don't think adding a few new scenes and re-airing something should qualify it for this sort of contest because it isn't a new work, it's simply an old work redressed. This is my opinion. For similar reasons, I plan on voting for Tatami Galaxy over Bakemonogatari, though I'd probably lean towards Tatami Galaxy regardless.

Haven't seen Time of Eve, although I'll make a note of it for the future. I like science fiction.

Time of Eve is great. I'm not sure if it should be on the list though and would have to think it over so I won't be voting yet. <17|TimeOfEve>

Edit:
I'll go with it.

1. You can use whatever metric you like to vote for or against something. I don't care what it is. Hell, I'm also going to eventually start voting against things because I don't think they're really 2010 enough.
2. Don't feel like this is a thread that is only here for copying and pasting things in between brackets. Talk about stuff, like whether or not Sora no Woto is complicated or whether Time of Eve really deserves to belong here.
3. I thought about what should qualify as a 2010 thing. One thing I was worried about was not having enough titles in the pool to make running this thing interesting enough, so I was a little liberal on what could go in. Obviously, that ended up not being too much of a concern, but I didn't really have anything to go by at the beginning.
4. I haven't seen the movie version of Time of Eve, but I'm going to assume that the changes are significant enough that it's more substantial than just a compilation movie. I mean, I would consider the Gurren Lagann movies different enough that they should be considered separately from the works that they're derived from.

I did get your point, I just didn't feel like having an argument over it so I didn't address it.

It won't win. I know it won't. The DtB OVA is probably objectively better in an artistic sense. But I don't care. I enjoyed the heck out of Heroman. Funnest show of 2010 for me (yup, even more fun than Letter Bee). Looked forward to it every week.

Here's hoping it gets more than one vote.

Abstaining. I haven't even seen the original DtB, and I didn't really want to see Heroman. Maybe I should put that on my to-watch list, just to see how I like it.

I laughed, I laughed, and I laughed some more. When I watched Bakagari, I didn't.

<6?TatamiGalaxy>

Deserves it for the line, "Upon seeing him, eight out of ten concerned citizens would have thought him a hellish demon, and the remaining two would have been absolutely convinced of it," alone.

Or you know, whatever it was that was said.

I believe we've lost, but I must vote for <22?Bakemonogatari>

Though, I think this might be the first match up where I've seen part of both shows.

It was a tough choice, but I love Bakemonogatari way more than The Tatami Galaxy, as good as it was.

A fantastic new iyashikei show from the director of ARIA vs. an anime adaptation that doesn't seem to capture what's great about the original manga.
