Sometimes if I'm really stressed, I'll destroy beautiful characters in stories just for the sake of stress relief, but I never could do anything like that in real life. It makes me sad when lovely things are broken.

Yeah, same here. When I'm in a aweful mood the characters in my stories suffer greatly.

I dunno. I think it helps me take my mind off whatever's bothering me when I try to come up with new creative ways to kill characters (it starts running out after a few years, you know.) I don't show anyone, really, though, so no one's really happy about it; there's just me feeling less tense. ^__^;

Coby, your characters and mine can go to therapy together!

I'd never want to destroy something beautiful unless is was made of clay and it was in great supply and easily replaceable and cheap... Like, If I made 100 pots in a pottery class, I'd destroy a few of them for fun.

And, by the way, a triple triple sauce only would be great if my stomach were larger...

Interesting. I have trouble destroying things, no matter how cheap, especially if I made them. I can only break things in writing. -_-

Sure, sometimes I feel like breaking something. But it doesn't necessarily have to be beautiful. I just want to get my hands into something and pull it apart, pretty or not.

In many cases that is very true. Sometimes if you kill off a character in a story you might come to later find you really liked them and wanted to keep them in it for later. For the most part it works for me though. XD

I think the best way to deal with anger is to talk to people about how you feel.

I can't stand it when something gets destroyed. Becaue it's ... gone. Even if it's not beautiful, It still has a purpose. Why would anyone want to destroy it?

BUT I do LOVE watching movies where everything gets destroyed. Lots of bullets.

Wanting beuatiful things to get broken might be part of your earthly nature or part of your Spiritual longing to vanquish earthly posesions.

I often want to destroy beautiful stuff but then I fell horrible about it so I mostly stick to threatening book characters... I think I've actually only killed one or two but mentally torturing them is much more enjoyable and they last longer that way. My favorite actual destructive behaviors would be paint-balling ( which I don't do much) and ripping up paper into teensy tiny pieces or throwing everything I own on the floor and then putting it all away as neatly as possible (that keeps me up all night tho...)

I know what you mean about just plain being mad and not really knowing why though. This dumb ol' world full of sin is irritating, if everybody would just stop sinning... if only it were that simple...

Well... I've already had that feeling but you know that creating beautiful things is harder then destroying them so if you destroy those things you will be choosing the easy way.

When I had that feeling, I thought that nobody would understand it and, being as shy as I am I would not tell it to anybody; finally I ended up having a few arguements on wich I let go my tension; then, when I became a little relieved I tried talking to someone and to make my life a little easier to share. Still, I won't say this was easy cause it wasn't but it's worth it.

As to those stories you talked about let me suggest that you act like on DragonBall and revive them if you really feel like it. Anything in fiction can have a turn back.

Yeah. I get that all the time. When I'm so overloaded with emotion that I can't let it out, I always 'destroy something beautiful'. Usually, I just kill people in my stories, people who represent people in real life that I think are very beautiful. Or I draw pictures of their death. For some reason, destroying something I think is lovelly helps me to release emotions of anger, pain, frustration, sadness, and just overall morbidity. So, yes, I understand exactly how you feel.

Spoken like parent.

Learning to deal with anger isn’t really part of growing up, more its part of life. Since you were small you have always had a system for dealing with stress and anger. This could take the form of a direct response, indirect, or evasive. (ie. Punching some one in the face, talking trash about some one, or avoiding that person / changing the subject; all respectively). These categories can then each be taken a step farther too constructive, destructive, or evasive.
Its up to you how you will respond to each incident (or person) in your life. Becoming angry is normal, deciding what to do with that anger is what is really important to God and those around you.

Some times, when I get angry, I could just go in my shed and smash the handle of my shovel and then go out in the woods and beat the crap out of every tree I can find…..But I don’t. I just sigh, and say, “What good would that do?â€
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

LOL yea. Even though i never watched it. I miss Xena warrior princess, and Cleopatra 2525, a...and, and Freinds...

I think people like us have a longing for objects in general. That's why we don't want to watch them break.

*laughs* Like a parent huh? (hope that never happens) My point was, that when your young...its hard to channel your anger into things...hobbys, etc. You have more a tendency to just freak out. Personaly as I have gotten older it has grown more easy to control my rage. I won't say I never lose my patience....(ask my coworkers who have seen me fling 8 foot carts across the backroom) But the cart had it coming.... People will also notice your abilty to control anger and rage. When someone says a cross word...do you rip there face off, or do you let it roll off your back. When you bust your hand with a hammer do you fling the hammer? Logic is somtimes lost in the heat of the moment so to speak....but just try to stay calm no matter what the situation is....staying calm always helps situations.

I understand the feeling that you express. There are times when the only way to let out anger is violence. Unfortunately, my violent urges are not to destroy something beautiful, but to cause pain to something.

If you were to just read that, you might think I was a violent/angsty person. Please note that these are merely violent urges, not actions. What do I do when these feelings come up? Nothing. One major portion of Christianity is that you are not required to do everything your id is telling you to do. Remember: we have higher priorities than ourselves.

True, staying calm in an immediate circumstance is very important. But the longer a frustration lingers, the harder it can be to maintain the control necessary to stay calm.

But barely keeping your self from ripping some ones head off isn’t really good enough. Though you didn’t actual do anything, God knows what is really in your heart. He knows that if given the chance you would want to sink your teeth deep into what ever / who ever, is driving you crazy. Controlling your emotions is good, but really we should have a positive (well, Godly) reaction to every thing in the first place.
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

Do you know what I like to do? I like to quote lines from Fight Club! That's a good way to feed your anger. (sorry...I had to say that :P )

Anyway, I have felt like that before, although I rarely act upon it (except when playing games...I've broken many controllers  ). Usually, when I suffer loss, or imagine some loss that I might suffer, I feel like causing the same suffering to others, but on a much larger scale. It's kind of like "getting back at God," you could say. Of course I never act on these feelings/urges; but they are there.
