The Smurfs Live Action/ Animated Movie

I almost said "lies" but I realized you may not know that the statement wasn't true, so I didn't want to accuse you of lying. It is however a false statement.
But hey at least the Japanese live action ones still are a bit closer to their source material than ones like Dragonball Evolution, and Speedracer (Ugh!)

Wait, you thought the Death Note live-action movies were closer to their source material than Speed Racer? What? Dragonball Evolution I'll grant you; that one wasn't close to the source material at all. But Speed Racer was far closer to the original than Death Note was.
After watching ones like Death Note, and Saikano, they are definitely made a lot better by the Japanese producers, than by the American ones, since the people they are making the movies for have obviously already seen the source material, while the American producers just want to pump out something that they think the American audience has never seen before.

Ha ha what?

Okay so explain to me when Japan makes anime of Iron Man and Wolverine, whose comics are not even published in Japan. Go ahead. Explain it.

And I'm sorry, stuff they think Americans have never seen before? If that was the case, we'd be getting live-action Daimajin Kanon and Ultraman movies in America. Death Note and Dragonball ARE popular in America, that's why they're making movies of it! They're capitalizing on the popularity of the series that already exists! Which is exactly what Japan does!
And anime itself you can see that the Japanese put a lot more love and thought into it than the american ones who just want to make a quick buck off of a bunch of kids.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. HA HA HA HA.

Oh wait. You're serious. LET ME LAUGH HARDER.

It must be nice to pretend that Japanese love their people and only want to do wonderful things for them and that mean ol' America only cares about the money and doesn't give a crap about people. Japan is only interested in the money too. That's how capitalism works! You don't make things for people if you LOSE money. The stuff they make in Japan makes money, so they keep making it!

Proof of this is Shin Kamen Rider. The movie released was Episode 1. There was never an episode 2. Why? Because Shin Kamen Rider did very poorly and made very little money at the box office. The Japanese production company didn't go "Well we love this show and put a lot of effort into it so even though we lost a ton of money we'll make more!" They lost money, so they didn't make another. Exactly the same as America.

Geez. There are also a lot of American producers and directors that put their heart and soul into their movies though. Know who one of them was? Ed Wood. His movies were AWFUL. But he loved making movies. He loved it dearly. You can watch Plan 9 From Outer Space and say it's a bad movie, because it is a bad movie. But you cannot say he churned it out to make a quick buck and didn't care, because he didn't. He believed in it and gave his all in it.

In other words, love and thought is not equal to quality.
Also as you said the original mangaka give a lot more feedback, that's mostly what I mean by "made by the same people" with the American adaptions it might as well, be the complete oolar opposite of what the Mangaka intended.

Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragonball, said that he really liked Dragonball Evolution.

In other words, even if he put feedback in it, he would have approved of what they made.

So much for your argument.

Let's get back on topic, guys. As much as the topic can give pain to some of us. XD

Concerning the Smurfs movie, the trailer I saw was very short and didn't show very much. I'd have to see more of what the plot will be like before I make a final judgment. The cast lineup does look good and who knows, it might make a nice B movie. :3
