How many people like roleplaying

Talk about anything in here.

I like role playing - preferrably on a console or on message boards... Though I have yet to get into one of the CAA Role Plays. Cobalt_Angel answered some questions so I'll be there soon, though!!! ;) :thumb:

What's larping? </n00b>

Alright, I have a strange form of roleplaying. This one roleplays in real life. Especially at night. Which is why I don't get much sleep...

The lights go off and the roleplay starts. I roleplay as myself or other female characters (though once I roleplayed as Kenshin at a friend's house--this resulted in my friend grabbing my cheeks and stretching my face, then whacking me over the head with pillows). It's pretty fun, and it's in real life, so I end up running around my room, hiding, fighting, etc. and killing invisible creatures/monsters. *blushes*

And did I mention that I make a lot of noise?

Assuming the persona of someone else, to put it bluntly, Inferno.
As for me, I adore role-playing of all kinds. I've never heard of LARPing, tho.

Roleplaying. Hard to explain to someone who doesn't know what it is, but I'll try.

*clears throat* *ahem*

<nonsense explanation>

Well, roleplaying is when you temporarily become someone else; to pretend that you're them. Ever pretended like you were an animal when you were a little kid? Believe it or not, that's roleplaying.

You have been given technical definitions of role playing at the moment. When most people refer to it, however, they refer to inventing a character and then taking them through various adventures within a precreated system. There is usually a fairly complex set of rules. Conversely, there are also consule roleplaying games such as the Final Fantasy series, in which case rpg is mainly defined by having very significant elements of character development as the game progresses.

I like to play pretty much all Rpg types, but I don't have enough time to play most, but video game ones. Even in those I don't have much experience. I'm getting Tales of Symphonia when it comes out though. I played Sword of Mana and beat both Golden Suns to.

Question here. I saw a rpg a couple of years ago tht was based on monster etched on dice. i mainly remember it because i was into mtg at the time and the advertising was diss'ing cards and promoting dice. anyway, the dice had different monsters on them and different dice had spells, etc, and thinking about it now, it looked pretty good. but i can't remember the name[specific or even general] and the only thing i get from a google search of monster dice or some such is a bunch of yugioh stuff. Anyone else remember this stuff and if so, what was it called? thanks alot

Hey that sounds familiar... let me ask my roommate.

He says there was a game called Hero Quest that had dice like that. :)

oh and Heart, I love LARPing, Live Action Role Playing. You dress up as your character, some of them even have real time combat with padded weapons. I play NERO, you can check it at http://www.nerolarp.com :)

Oh yah, I have a NERO page on my website... let me link you :)

thanks. but i just googled it and it is a boardgame with miniatures. the game i was thinking of was simply dice. i think it was a lot like mtg, but just used dice. it was called "something" dice. and that something is eluding me and really ticking me off now :) thanks tho.

I love just about all types of RPGs, I have play a lot of console RPGs, though not many of the best (legend of dragoon, FF 3 thrugh 6, and legend of mana...).
As for pin & paper RPGs, I have played a little, starwars, D&D, and Shadow run. The group that got me started use to play right next door, so I asked if I could play, they gave me a chance, and when my newly made merc told one of the vet player's uber sith-lord (They had been playing for a few years before this) that I was in charge and I was NOT going to move... for less then then triple the credits, they adopted me. Heh, I think I got a few dark-side points for that little stunt.

I love console RPG Games (Final Fantasy series - on the SNES though, I don't have a PS2 or any for the regular PS), Chrono Trigger, Tales of Symphonia, Harvest Moon, etc.

As for online RPG's (like the ones here, I can never get it into.)

However, my friends and I do a Lord of the Rings pencil and paper RPG whenever we can. We are currently going into the East in pursuit of one o fth Blue Wizards. I'm a Beorning ^_^

Aslo about 4 of these friends who does the LOTR RPG does a RPG where we are the character and we do the RPG type thing but in our own way. It could be the LARPG or whatever it is called. This spring we are having a tournament between ourselves where we are gonna swowrd fight.

Man.. I love Role playing of all kinds.... I actually am in two different Pen and paper RPG groups right now. One uses the DnD system, and the other uses the Palladium system. I am also in the middle of Xenogears right now.......
