i've got a little stuff, mainly a few cool looking collared shirts and a sundial 'clock' thing that you set to the month and hold up to the sun to get the hour...

i'd like to see the collapsable binoculars ^^

Actually, there already was a steampunk Iron Man of sorts. There used to be a comic book called Neil Gaiman's Mr. Hero Here's a pic:

It was a pretty good comic. Too bad it was Neil Gaiman in name only. He came up with the concept, but that was the only input he had.

Well, fine may as well add to this. I still like steampunk, it's pretty cool. I'm actually looking for some nice anime goggles, I'm having a hard time finding something that fits my style.

Thank you, soon we will work together to build a Utopian Playland! A world where we can all be granted freedom that is being declared psychology insane. I'm insane... so now I can howl at the moon on whim whenever I want to... people stare, but then I just inform them of my mental condition, they give me an approving look and walk slowly and kindly away!

That is more or less the same as my pair of binoculars. You press a button and they pop open, and can fold back down into the case for carrying.

wow. i may need to invest in a pair of those...>.>
they look suprisingly reasonable...

I recommend The Clockwork Quartet. They only have two songs out so far but they are amazing.

Would Full Metal Alchemist be steampunk-related?

I'm pretty sure it would. From what I've heard Arakawa partially based the series on England in the Industrial Revolution.

I don't think I'd call it related to steampunk directly though it is definitely a similar kind of thinking. Only instead of extrapolating "What it would be like if they had continued using steam power?" it's "What if they had continued using alchemy?".

On that note, Final Fantasy 6 has both of the above: magic and steam power, extrapolated to advance the world's technology. Like mecha, powered by steam created from the energy drawn from magical beings.

Anyway, I like steampunk: the whole brass-and-gears aesthetic looks cool, and alternate history seems to figure into it a lot, and that's double cool. I have a plan to make a pair of goggles out of a couple pipe fittings and some leather, and if that ever makes it into the real world, it'll be a very cool pair of sunglasses.
We are loved even though we suck.

I've been told I would enjoy Final Fantasy 6 because of the exact things you described.
