CW4kids takes Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight off schedule

ANN wrote:Stephen Lunsford, the actor who portrays the titular character in Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, confirmed on his Twitter account on Friday that 4Kids Entertainment and The CW have canceled the show as of December 26. Episode 38 out of 40 of the series will air on that Saturday. It is not yet known whether the last two episodes will be posted on the 4kidstv.com website. Co-executive producer Steve Wang noted on his Facebook page, "that's not to say it won't pop up on a different network in the future."

This live-action special-effects series is the latest reincarnation of Shotaro Ishinomori's Kamen Rider action manga about super-powered heroes who protect humanity. The series originated as Kamen Rider Ryuki, which ran in Japan from 2002 to 2003. The regular series of the English-language version, which is being refilmed and produced in the United States, launched on January 3 of this year.

D3Publisher just released a Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight video game for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS consoles on November 17.

The only other U.S. adaptation of the Kamen Rider series was Saban's Masked Rider, which was loosely based on the Kamen Rider BLACK RX series. It aired in 1995 but was also canceled after only one season.

I sense that 4kids may be paid a visit by three or more shadowy figures who will mass Rider Kick them into another dimension after delivering a message to all those who didn't watch and support this show...at which point I will flee country, but still be enraged as well since this means Kabuto won't be brought over...at all.

A shame, A foreseeable shame but a shame nonetheless.

I'm "ok" with them not renewing but taking the final episodes off the air is just silly to me, lucky we'll still be able to see the final two episodes online.

This is very sad news indeed. 8C
But like Solid Ronin said, at least we will be able to watch the final two episodes online.

In the meantime, I no longer have a good reason to get up on Saturday morning, make my cup of milk tea, and enjoy a wonderful show full of action, drama, and overflowing awesomeness like Dragon Knight was.

I kind of expected this. With Power Rangers no longer around on American TV, I figured Kamen Rider wouldn't be far behind. They are quite similar, at least in genre.

Um, Power Rangers is still airing on ABC family I believe yo. In fact I believe they are nearing the end of the lastest season "Power Rangers:RPM" which was adapted from "Engine Sentai Go-onger".

Despite the fact the certain company in question was involved, it was a great show. Mostly because that company wasn't involved that much in the actual making of the show. XD

But yes, while compared to other Kamen Rider shows (not in the US), it falls a bit short, Dragon Knight still had some very strong points and it went beyond just having action and involved some good drama in the storyline and character development.

Its over?! i have some mixed feelings about this. For one i thought it was kind of childish (related it to Power Rangers.) But as i watched it a little more (sporadically) it was a bit deeper so therefore i would have liked to possibly watch a little more of it to be fair.

To be fair, Kamen Rider is two years old than Super Sentai (which would become Power Rangers elsewhere).

And to be honest, I can't follow the logic of thinking Power Rangers/Kamen Rider is childish. Seeing teenage heroes fight evil in summoned costumes and mechs is silly, but middle aged billionaire's dressing as bats or high tech armor, teenagers getting bit by spiders thus giving them super powers, or scientist getting hit with gamma rays and not to mention <insert 85% of anime/manga plots> makes perfect ground work for mature story telling?

I'm not trying to make a mockery of you, but that thinking doesn't add up.

But as i watched it a little more (sporadically) it was a bit deeper so therefore i would have liked to possibly watch a little more of it to be fair.

You can watch the entire series at 4kidstv.com.

I was going to rant angrily but i see no point in it considering you picked my reply to shreds without reading it as a whole and no doubt will do the same for this one.

I was not saying it was childish (i admit i phrased that badly) but it reminded me of the Power Rangers which i watched and did childish things because of (can't stop thinking of my little cousin who makes sound effects for everything, which i also did might i add)

Also I thought Power Rangers got a little repetitive (battles + storyline) but plot wise Kamen Riders was much better.

I'm afraid I don't see why you'd be upset, I told you I'm not trying to attack you. And you just said you worded it badly, whats wrong yo?

I think your both (Solid Ronin and Silent Seraph) were a bit confused about what the other was posting. Neither of the posts meant any harm as I read it, so please tone the tension down. I'd rather not have to lock a thread about one of my favorite TV shows. XD
But, Seraph, I agree with you on one thing, Kamen Rider wins with its plotline. Something beyond, "We're going to save the world and keep fighting the same monsters over and over and over and over again." Kamen Rider switches it up and makes even the characters more deep in personality.
