Broke Student Stories

Postby Doubleshadow » Wed Dec 09, 2009 6:53 pm

I let my FB update say it all: XD

Two broken dryers, using duct tape to patch the holes in my wall I can see trees though, can see the floorboards under my linoleum. Me thinks I should call the apartment's repair guy. Right after my car goes to the mechanic.

My parents are going to cover my car though. XD

Any other stories out there?

Oh yeah. Spending Sunday afternoon drying my sheets (and everything else) armed with a hair dryer? Loads of fun. XD And I couldn't reach all the holes to duct tape 'em either. If I want to see the weather, and I can just turn around while using the microwave.

I spent more money buying crap for the anime club than I do on my living expenses!

I dug my speech textbook out of a dumpster. No...really. I saw an upperclassman throw it in there at the end of last semester because, well, it was absolutely destroyed to begin with, but, I can't stand to see a book go in the garbage, no matter how mangled it is. So I dug it out. And, by some really great luck, I ended up needing it for this coming semester. :)

The 'Broke Student' part of this story is: I'm literally using a textbook I found in a dumpster...that's held together by about half a roll of duct-tape.

I vividly remember having to plan ahead a week in advance just to have change to buy chips during especially long classes.

...it's a vivid memory because, even though I'm out of school, I STILL have to plan ahead for things as trivial as that. :(
