The second season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has FINALLY started airing on South African television. Watched the first episode tonight and it was AWESOME. So sad to hear it won't be returning for a third season though...

Because the ratings were not good and that meant not many people were watching it.

Plus, it really didn't matter anyway. They said that they were going kind of wrap it up after they got maybe one or two more seasons as they plan to tie it in to the new movies.

That sucks. Even though, according to Fox, the ratings weren't good, there are still a lot of fans out there, including myself. This is the same thing that happened with Disney's Gargoyels as well as Joss Whedon's Firefly that were both cancelled after their third seasons. To this day both are still going strong in fan created medias.

Off topic, that is true. I was a big Gargoyels fan, but they cut it after season 3 and they had a good reason to. Season 3 was not at all par to the first two seasons.

As much as there was fans for the show, when they put out a box set for the first season of Gargoyels and after that, they were going to put out season two box sets. Due to sells for the box sets, they cancel the order to make season two box sets.

Fans can be very funny, they will love a show, but when it comes to supporting it by dvd sells and other stuff, they kind of just don't care.

For some reason the second (or the third) season of Gargoyles never aired on South African television, something I'm still miffed about to this day. Back then, when I heard they were bringing out a season 2 box set, I was extatic. However, when I heard that it was only the first half and they were MAYBE bringing out the second half I was very disappointed. I'm the kind of person, who, when starting a collection wants the WHOLE collection. So I guess you can call me one of those fans who's fault it was that they never brought out the second box half :-P If they had brought out the ENTIRE second season in one box set as a whole I would have bought it, despite what it would have cost.

Also I've only seen the first episode of the second season, but if the rest of the season has this kind of quality I don't understand why it didn't do so well. Better than any of the other garbage on tv at the moment...

Do you know know how much that would have cost, if they had put the full second season out on one full box set?

Season one only had 13 eps and I look and they did put out all of season in a box set. It sold okay, but not great as they hope to. That was the reason why they release season two as two box sets. Season two was 52 eps and that would have been a very costly box set to do that.

So they broke it up with 26 eps for the first volume of season two and then they were going to do the other 26 ep in a box set, but the first set didn't sell well. But said Weisman, "Volume 1 did not sell enough copies." Disney currently has no plans to release the second volume, although these plans may change if sales of the currently released volumes improve.

So the fault is on the fans for not supporting it. They didn't really support the first season box set that had all of the eps on it.

Season three was crap and only lasted 13 eps before they end it. They were called the The Goliath Chronicles and major staff and writer changes, the original co-creator of the series Greg Weisman has considered these episodes non-canon and instead has chosen to continue the storyline with the comic books published by Slave Labor Graphics.

Actually, the first season didn't even do that well.. it was barely hanging on by the end and I was really surprised it got a second season in the first place.

And the first half of season two was pretty awful. Most fans hanging on for that second season disappeared before it finally started getting good. IF the first half would have been like the second half, I think it could have made it to a season 3. But the whole thing was kind of Fox's fault IMO. They wanted it to be more episodic so people didn't have to watch each episode and anyone just joining in would get it. Fans didn't like these stand alone episodes and with them being stand alone, there really wasn't anything that made you wanna come back and see the next one. Fox finally figured out they were wrong but it was too late by the time they decided to actually go back to story arcs and make everything more serialized. All the fans already left.

Keyword there, by the end. There was 18.6 million viewers during its premiere time, which is why it they gave it another season.

It did drop to #36 with 11.4 millions views for season one at the end. But still not great, but not bad at the same time as I said it did well. I never said that it did great in my post, did I?

When season two came up, it was #71 with 4.64 viewers.
