Great movie. One of my favorite pixar movies in a long time

What with the talking cars and toys and alternate dimensions filled with monsters that derrive power from screams this movie for what-ever reason required the suspension of disbelief for me. Something about it made the fact that I had to suspend it all the more obvious than previous films.

I know what you mean. It must have been because the realistic parts were very, very real (not just the emotional parts, but the plot parts...like parents not showing up or wounds actually drawing blood and such) that it belief on my part was strained at some points.

Which is not to say that it was a serious drawback. The movie was excellent; the music was great; the animation exceptional; the humor very funny indeed. In fact, my biggest complaint is: Needs more dogs!

Saw this with my dad yesterday afternoon. Fantastic movie, though I'm a bit disappointed a particular character never showed up.

The opening montage of Carl and Ellie's life was easily the best scene.

This. Movie. Was. Fantastic. This is the best thing I've seen from Pixar in a long time-- heck, one of the best movies I've seen this year so far. It made me cry within the first ten minutes. That has to be a new record. XD

At first I was hesitant to suspend my disbelief, but then I just said "screw it" and decided to enjoy the film even if it wasn't entirely realistic. And I'm glad I did.

Also, this film was very bold for a kids' movie, and I appreciate that. I get tired of filmmakers dumbing everything down for kids and was really impressed to see none of that here.

Edit: Since for some reason it won't let me edit my last post in this thread (O_o), I just wanted to make a correction: This wasn't the first Pixar film I saw in the theatre. Cars was. I forgot that I went to see it. >_>

LOL I said the same exact thing to my mom the second the movie finished. That first scene is killer. XD

I LOVED this aspect. I love Pixar so much for this. I can't stand it when people make crappy movies with stupid humor because they don't think kids will understand it. But they CAN comprehend movies with real plots; it's just that no one gives them the chance anymore. Also I loved that they actually showed blood! I was stoked. XD

Agree'd....I read an interview a christian magazine had with the director of Wall-E and he said that the thing about a trashed planet had nothing to do with environmentalism, but was rather a result of us as humans giving into materialism]

Ok... I admit I jumped ahead a bit with this one. In fact, I only saw bits and pieces of it before, but I had so many friends tell me it was a straight up environmental thing, and the bits I watched seemed to match that... I had no interest in seeing Robot Captain Planet, ya know?

Because of this, I decided to watch it today, and I actually do like it. Still seems a bit on the environmentalist side, but not as bad as I'd thought by any means.

And about the whole "all drains lead to the ocean" thing in Finding Nemo, until people have made mention of it's meaning I honestly thought nothing of it....

I've seen Finding Nemo about 4 or 5 times. Maybe once by my own desire, and a few times because... Well, because it's so galznerking popular among some of my friends. The All drains lead to the ocean thing is quoted by kids all the time. Thing is, it's not true... It lead to kids flushing their fish to their deaths because they thought they'd be sent to the ocean. Ignoring the fact that most kids have FRESHWATER fish, there's also the fact that sewers don't go to the ocean, they go to sewage treatment plants (when houses use sewers to begin with) and nothing fish-sized would survive that trip.

I felt the whole thing was basically a Sea pollution thing... Seeing sewer lines emptying into the ocean should illicit a reaction. We get FOOD from the ocean, you know? We swim in the ocean... Etc... I didnt' see it as anything other than a message that was a bit off target (at least for first world nations, if not for places like, say, Fiji), but maybe I read too deeply into it, I don't know.

As for messages... It's not that I don't think there should be messages in movies, but more that when there are obvious and prominent messages I don't agree with, I'd rather not subject myself to it. I've done it intentionally at times, though... I watched some films by a certain, ahem, *documentarian* that went against what I believed, and when I'd seen how deceptive he had been with his footage and how he put things together, it accomplished nothing but making me angry.

I watch movies because I want to be entertained. It's not that the movies have to agree with me, but I'd rather not watch one I know will annoy me...

Even without any environmental thing in Finding Nemo, though, it annoys me... It's my second least favorite movie from Pixar (the least favorite being Bug's life) I don't really know what it is about that one... Maybe my friends killed it for me. I'm more a Monster's Inc fan. And Incredibles. And Toy Stoy 1-2.

I'll probably see Up soon. Sounds like a good one.

I didn't like Finding Nemo either. If there was an award for Most Overrated Pixar Film, I would vote for Finding Nemo. >_>

I really, really want to see this movie! It seems like everybody here loved it! Wow, hard to find a move that good. And I personally do love Pixar movies, not Dreamworks(Blah!).

I am usually a sucker for sob stories but I managed to make it through the movie without crying, though I did almost tear up in the beginning montage. The movie was just fantastic from start to finish...although...the one thing I thought was weird.

Carl was watching that Muntz guy in the theater when he was a kid. But they're...still somehow the same age...? That didn't make a lot of sense to me.

Also it was all I could do throughout the movie to not have my mind wander off going "Hey Freakazoid, you wanna go for a mint?"

Ha! I didn't figure out it was him. I kept sitting there thinking "That guy sounds SO familiar!" and then I saw the end credits and was like "Oh." XD

I really liked this movie. The opening of course was the best. But the end was touching too.

A friend of mine has been gushing about this movie for quite some time since the first commercial with Doug in it aired. She always ran around going 'Squirrel!' at the most appropiate or inappropiate times. I was skeptical at first, then I saw the PluggedIn review for it and then had a sudden urge to go see it. The message sounds absolutely beautiful and I really wanted to see it on the big screen.

...Bad news, I'm broke. So, I will have to sulk as I stare at all the posts that talk about how awesome it is. Maybe they'll inspire me to actually work for the money instead of waiting for it to fall in my lap.

All I wanna know is: Is it better then Cars? Wall-E was cute but I still didn't think it was as good as Cars. Probably because I know a guy who is exactly like Mater. The people you meet when you live out in the middle of nowhere are astonishing and somewhat scary.

I always found Cars as my favorite just because it reflects how my life is out in the middle of nowhere. Everyone acts like they do from Radiator Springs in my town... and the population count is just about the same. I liked Wall-E, it just wasn't my favorite. But, Eve and Wall-E are now my favorite Disney/Pixar couples of all time. There's just an innocence to their relationship that I just adore.

I finished washing and cleaning out my dad's car, and gained ten bucks! My sister helped, too, so the twenty bucks was split. But hey, I get to go to the movie! Yay!

Up was WAY better than Cars if you ask me. Not that Cars was bad, it's just Up is much better.

Ratatouille is my other favorite Pixar film-- I know nobody else except the critics liked it but I don't care. XD I used to love Toy Story but I haven't seen it in a jillion years so I'm not sure if it's still at the top of my list.

All of them are really wonderful.

Not really. Wall-E was just so amazing and wonderful I can't regard it as anything but my favorite of Pixar's movies. Up would be a close second, with The Incredibles as third.

God gave me the money, but now He is taking away my freetime. It's probably to teach me the virtue of patience, which I fail at sooo much.

Why does nobody like Cars?! I feel so alone... At least Incredibles is in second place, which I can qoute seemlessley. The kids love it in VBS (which is the reason for my lack of freetime) and my best is Syndrome. I'm a hit. ...Even though they're suppose to be focusing on learning about love and God instead of Pixar movies.

Up will be out of theaters when I actually have the freetime to see it.

@ Changing Myst-Im sorry if some people don't like Cars at all(I actually liked Cars. Granted it's not my favorite; however, I did enjoy it and saw some lessons we can learn from it.), but that is what they like. What they like is not what you like and can never be what you like simply because you are you. A person can like a movie a whole lot because he sees a lesson or some value in it. However there maybe others to which it doesn't pertain to their life so they can't relate. The people who can't relate are those who don't like it. Each person on this Earth has different needs and they have a different life(No one you know has the exact same life as your own.) that they live. You need to always know that what you like is what you like, no one can take that from you because God gave it to you.
