just curiouse....rune soldier anyone?

Postby martinloyola » Wed Apr 14, 2004 8:21 pm

Has anyone ever heard of an anime series called "Rune Soldier"? Its a fantasy with a mage whos not good at magic and better with his fists named Louie...I ve seen the first four episodes but I want to know more about the main story, it seems to involve some "god" called Mylee (no clue on spelling)
anybody know, it wasn't anywhere in archives that I could tell :help:
Vash: In the end...he just couldn't kill a man in cold blood. His daughter's murder goes unpunished. Call him weak, but...it saved both of us.

want to tell your fantasy or science fiction story and need help, try here

At first I liked the series, but later on they started making Louie into a total pervert, and by disc 5 the series in my opinion was total trash, <_<

I don't want to go into the details since this is a Christian site, and quite frankly, it makes me sick thinking about it.

You mean Louie, the Rune Soldier. I really liked that show. Louie was a perv? Did you watch the same show I watched? 0_o

I know the female characters always thought he was, as in all shows where the lead character isn't too bright and male, but I never saw him overtly being pervy. It's rated 15+, because of some brief nudity. It's a fantasy/comedy like Slayers. The quality isn't the same as Slayers. On the fourth disc they have a scene where they're fighting a sea monster while out on a boat and one of the girl's tops gets caught on the fishing line. That time and some other steam room scenes you'll see a bit of female top area, other than that, it was never a letcherous Louie trying to see anything.

I thought the ending fell flat and it ended abruptly. The first shows had some funny stories. On the second disc, Merrill, the small impish character who's very greedy, does everything in her power to save her jar full of her savings - that's a crack-up, LOL show.

They also have a really strong elven character, which I liked and wish they would have had in her more shows. Altogether, if you're old enough, this is worth a rental.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I've watched the first dvd and I agree that Rune Soldier is pretty perverted. It's funny in places, but not an anime I would recommend.

I didn't see it, so I can't comment, but I'm thinking maybe it's like in Love Hina. 99% of the time, what'shisname isn't being perverted, but just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but there's still the 1% of the time he does something on purpose. Are there moments like that in Rune Soldier?

It starts off like that, then by disc 5 he's pretty much doing everything on purpose.

I didn't see Louie as overly perverted, but I've only seen 3 of the first 4 volumes. There was some degree of fanservice, though. And I agree with Chloe, it's of the same vein as Slayers, but not of the same quality. I don't know if the storyline picks up more later, but it doesn't seem to have a very strong overall plot, relying more on the humor of individual episodes to drive the series. It's worth renting though.

well, now i've seen all but the last disc, and I kinda enjoyed it, maybe because it was a little less serious than other series, it wasn't about the end of the world or some other earth shattering plot, kinda refreshing, however, the perversion is undeseriably present, more in some episodes than others, if fact if there were a review done I'd have to say mark out wich ones not to watch and you'll be fine cuz most of the episodes are unrelated for the most part.

Fanservice is pretty much a given considering Genie's choice in battle "attire". I own the entire series, and yes there are some parts that could be dubbed as crude, but overall I'd say it's pretty light-hearted on the "harmful scale" regarding anime comedies; in other words, compared to a large amount of other comedies I've seen or that are out there, I found it to be pretty harmless, as well as stinking hilarious. But hey, that one man's opinion.... Hope it may have helped though :-)
