Logitech MX700

Ok, I get that this mouse is a bit old, but I found the thing at the Goodwill and thought "Eh, why not?"

I can't get the computer to see the mouse. I plugged it in and Windows told me the device is installed and ready to use. EVerything's plugged in- AC adapter to base, base to USB port- also, I have fresh regular copper top AA batteries in the mouse. The little light on the mouse just keeps blinking red and green- on and off the base...

Help?

can you move the pointer when the mx700 is installed???
try removing the mouseware drivers as windows will use its own.
You could try removing the device in device manager.
right click device manager-click properties-click the hardware tab, then
device manager.
remove any device that has a yellow exclamation mark next to it (!!!!)
Remove the mx700 charger/receiver station from the usb port. restart with no
mouse installed.
put the mx700 back in.

If you have mac i'd look at this and update 2.

Update 2: Of the third-party mouse driver apps, Steermouse is the only one that detects all the buttons on the MX518 under Leopard 10.5.2 and above. The others don't seem able to override the defaults for buttons 7 and 8.

I'm guessing its the driver, follow the first post and uninstall the drivers. If you can find the driver specifically for the mouse online do that. If not, try her suggestion as to letting the windows use its default mouse driver.

That's the thing, the mouse isn't showing up in Device Manager.

If you still don't have this fixed by tomorrow I'll look into it again tomorrow - running out the door atm.
