Yes, they have strange sexual anatomy.
Echidnas are awesome. Australia has echidnas, Europe has porcupines and North America has Hedgehogs.

When I was in the Grampians National Park (in Victoria, Australia) an Echidna charged through the bushes like a small, slow and spiky rhino and licked all the ants off my boots. Very cool. I patted him too, but that was a bit stupid of me, I could have been spiked.

If I had one... I'd name it Sonic... 8D

I saw one at a petstore we visited. IT WAS SOO CUTE!
Sadly, it was sleeping though so it was balled up and I couldn't see its face. :(

We also have Porcupines here in America. I've seen them in the wild, I've never seen a hedgehog in the wild though...

This somehow reminds me of a thread a long time back of some guy in New Zealand... didn't he get arrested for assaulted a teenager by smacking him with a hedgehog? O_O... It was not known whether the hedgehog was alive or dead after being launched into said individual... X_X.

That's because hedgehogs are native to Africa, Asia, Europe, and New Zealand not America.

It sounds like you're doing a documentary. Have you ever tried to work for Animal Planet?
