Only those beings able to contemplate God would even benefit from heaven. For me, the idea that Heaven wouldn't be Heaven if I didn't have my little fluffy there with me totally undermines what heaven is really about, total union with God. The only thing that anyone needs to be happy is God.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, I really do like animals, especially dogs.

(My testimony on how I found Jesus and became "born-again" last year stemmed from wanting to know what happens to animals after they die and I discovered that God answers that question many times through His true word.)
John 14:1-4
"Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know where I am going and how to get there."
Revelation 21:4
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

It won't even matter if the people you were closest to in life are there or not. We will be like the angels and neither marry nor be given in marriage, all we will need is God.
