Before and during today's class on horror films, I watched The Day The Earth Stood Still and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.

Oo actually I agree... I never really cared for Blade Runner either. And if you thought Alien was good, you should see Aliens!!! Alien and Aliens are two different types of movies but I prefer Aliens... just stay away from 3 and 4 >.< 3 ruins everything 2 had going for it and 4 just plain out sucks. And the special effects in Aliens are better than both 1 and 3 (3 they try to use CGI but it wasn't ready yet back then so it just looks like crap). I love how they did the Queen alien at the end. Watching the behind the scenes on that stuff is fascinating. Not like all this CGI stuff they do today.

Oh, really? I was going to pass off Aliens as a probably-horrible sequel. But my brother wants to watch it, so I might sit down with him and watch it too.

And to clarify: I don't hate Blade Runner. I'm not even saying it was all that bad (quality-wise) of a movie. I just didn't enjoy it very much.

I spent like four days watching The Twilight Samurai. Not really sure why it took me so long to finish it :/ Anyway, I really liked it. It was very slow, but very realistic, I thought. The fight scenes especially were realistic. Rather than pulling off super-fancy moves and killing each other with one or two strokes, they made it look like you could actually physically do that stuff, and that's what made the fighters impressive. And I didn't realize it at first, but the guy who plays the main character, Seibei, also plays Ujio in The Last Samurai. That was nice to see.

X-Men

Yes, for the first time. I thought it was a mediocre movie with enough explosions and such to be worth watching. Fans of the franchise would probably enjoy it more than I did.

Foolish Wives- Erich Von Stroheim recreated Monte Carlo to film this movie, and it shows. It was the most expensive movie ever made in 1922. Pretty good for a silent film, though I felt that the pacing was extremely slow.

Chaplin- Sir Richard Attenborough's biopic on Charlie Chaplain. Very good, and Robert Downey Jr's performance is amazing.

I watched X-Men a few days ago, and I must say that I enjoyed it quite a bit more than it probably deserves. I'm not sure if I just really like action movies or if it had something to do with the fact that I had just come back from a 6 day, only women trip and was sorely missing testosterone. Also, I watched Penelope last night and agree whole-heartedly with Ich1990.

I just finished watching Mystery Science Theater 3000's presentation of Pod People. (I've been on a major MST3K kick lately.) Wow. Some of the worst movies make for some of the best episodes.

Yep, college is awesome like that. On that note, having just got back from another class at The Horror Movie, I watched Horror Of Dracula before class, and Psycho and a bit of Halloween during it. I've definitely got to check out Halloween, John Carpenter looked like he really knew what he was doing in the clips we saw.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Seriously freaky.

I was surprised how little of the film was actually devoted to the exorcism. Most of it was actually an intelligent court room drama. Also, "inspired by a true story" is probably a more accurate statement than "based on a true story".

It was more interesting than the first movie, although it would have been much better if it were about 15 minutes shorter.

Spent the last few days watching the four-hour-long Gettysburg! Ah, probably my favorite war movie. I can't believe my parents let/made me watch it when I was in second grade.... But I was even more surprised when I actually looked at the back of the box and discovered it's only rated PG

My favorite parts of the movie are (1) when Chamberlain gets shot and falls down, but then he gets up and sees that it hit his sword, saving his leg (2) the conversation about being "descended from a ape" (3) the conversation about "fattin' fer mah rats" (4) the end, where Tom walks across the battlefield looking defeated, but then he sees his brother and they hug.

Anyway, I've seen this movie a kajillion times, every time I or any of my siblings are studying the Civil War in history. Funny how a war movie can be nostalgic. I intend to make my kids watch it too

Aliens is a great film. Easily one of the best sequels of all time. Don't go in expecting more of what you got in the first movie though, because it is a different kind of film altogether.

Anyway, I recently watched the 1985 CBC/PBS adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. It was very true to the book and the acting was outstanding. The production values were quite nice as well, especially for a small screen production.

I have Sin City from Netflix; I need to watch it but I don't really feel like it...
