First Anime DVD?

Postby Corkyspaniel » Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:45 pm

I don't know if a thread like this already exists, but I just bought two anime DVDs, which were my firsts. (A fan who's never bought any.) So, what was your first anime DVD?
By the way, I bought episodes 115-118 of Naruto, and my mom bought Fruits Basket 13-19.♥

My first DVD was actually the first volume of Sorcerer Hunters. My first VHS, though... Man! I'd been doing anime a good four years before DVDs finally became cheap and I had quite a collection. Starting with a DiC sailor moon tape.

Mine was either volume 1 of Jubei-chan, Strawberry Eggs or Crest of the Stars -- I don't remember which one.

My first anime DVD was actually a set, Witch Hunter Robin 1-6. I ended up selling it, and getting the individual volumes with the art box. ^_^

The first two DVDs of Rurouni Kenshin. Those were some good times; I seriously get so nostalgic when I watch that show. XD

Let's see... I know the first VHS anime I OWNED was Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie (for Christmas), while the first I actually BOUGHT was Princess Mononoke.

As for DVDs... Hmmm, that's a tough one. It was either Spirited Away or Metropolis, I forget which.

Senkaiden Houshin Engi 1, localized as "Soul Hunter."

It was also the last anime DVD I bought. Seriously, the original anime wasn't all that great, but ADV's presentation was terrible-- cheesy special effects on the menu screen, terrible back-of-the-box description, and the dub was seriously the most painful 2 hours I've ever sat through in my life-- and I've seen 4Kids dubs.

I'm hoping to get over my R1 DVD phobia with the Romeo X Juliet boxset when it comes out though.

Princess Mononoke, and Gundam Endless Waltz.

First series, Martian Successor Nadesico. Still one of my all time favorites.

I bought Dragonball Z Season One after playing Tenkaichi Budokai 2 on the Wii. After that I totally missed anime and started collecting the DBZ series, then Gundam Wing (ahhhh the days of early Toonami) and then Trigun and....well....the rest is history.

That's hard to remember. My first VHS tapes were of Robotech and Ranma.

My first DVD's are a little more fuzzy. Ranma, Iria, and Battle Athletes would be my oldest DVD's. Hard to say which was actually first.

Yeah, but its really long and I kind of get tired of watching episode after episode. After a while, it gets repetative and I'm thinking "End already!".

My first, and only, anime VHS was Pokemon The Movie 3.

My first DVD was Volume 1 of Full Metal Alchemist
