Good Friday

Postby SManBeyond » Fri Apr 09, 2004 6:18 am

Happy Good Friday, everyone!

Yeah, it technically isn't a "real" holiday, but it's an important day for us Christians to remember the pain and suffering that Christ went through when He died for us. Hopefully we'll all get some time today to reflect on that in His Word and to thank Him for what He did for us.

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. " Isaiah 53:5-6.
"Love means to love that which is unlovable; or it is no virtue at all." G. K. Chesterton

I've always gotten Good Friday off. I think my dad might take us to the zoo today... fun stuff...

Anyway, you are right. Its important for us to remember the suffering as well as the fact that he rose again. ^_^

Yeah, getting school off is always a plus, but it is important to reflect upon the true meaning of Easter, and not the commercialized pinky fluffy Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs everywhere!
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom

Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion
And the response
Falls the Shadow

Life is very long

Between the desire
And the spasm
Between the potency
And the existence
Between the essence
And the descent
Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom

For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but with a whimper.

True. I dont much like the commercialized easter, but those robbins eggs are just so good.......darn, satan sure has his ways to get to all of us......
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Yeah, it's a holy day. ;)
An excellent time to quietly reflect upon the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins.

I have to go to work later but I certainly want to wish everyone here a Good Friday. Keep the peace, love and God in mind.

Interesting thing to remember...

As Jesus was hanging on the cross on the hill of calvary one could look towards the temple mount and see smoke rising from the temple on that day. It was the lambs being sacrificed for the observance of passover. As those lambs were being sacrificed continuously for the sins of man, the true lamb of God was being sacrificed upon the cross, once and for all, for the sins of mankind.
