You're already familiar with the iPod and it does what you want (epic hard drive space, exactly within your price range, and video-capable). You can also get a refurbished (used, but restored to new condition) 160GB iPod classic through Apple for the same $249. I'd be surprised if you use all of 160 GB - I'm a music lover, and I haven't yet filled my 30GB fifth-gen.

I have the 80 GB ipod-classic, and I STILL thinks it's fabulous. I have over 11,000 songs (I have an unhealthy number of CD'S) and about a dozen movies, and 30 or so music videos, and I still have space. I have NO idea how, but it's the greatest thing on the planet.
I paid $260 for the 80 GB about a year and a half ago, so if you can get away with a 160 for that same price, I'd definetely go for it.
I must admit, Zunes are pretty sweet, but I think Ipods are just a lot more convieniant, because accessories, docking stations, etc, are readily available, and you can pretty easily get music from your friends itunes on to your ipod without hassle.
