Opera vulnerability - upgrade!

Postby Mithrandir » Mon Nov 24, 2008 2:47 pm

For those of you using Opera 9.62 or before (windows), be sure to get upgraded to the latest version when it comes out. There's a pretty nasty remote -> local arbitrary code execution vulnerability out there. Keep your eyes open!

I only have Opera Version 9.61 O_O

I forgot, does it require a restart? I can't remember, so I'll try to remember to update it before I get off u_u

I believe the lastest version(according to Opera's website) is in fact, 9.62. Does that mean we Opera users are in trouble no matter what? XD;

Sorry... I wasn't very clear, was I? I was implying that you should keep watch for the new version and upgrade when it comes out. I'll go edit my OP and make that clearer! Also, it looks like the link doesn't work (I really don't like how NIST does their site setup).

does this affect the Wii? After all the Wii uses Opera Software, says so on the box.

Ah, okay. That makes more sense, I assumed that's what you meant, but I was just a bit confused. XD
Thanks. :D

Well, it's possible it's vulnerable, but I'm not sure what that exploit vector would look like; also, I don't know how the Wii's browser could be upgraded (aside from waiting for the upgrade to run via firmware, etc).
