Having leech is indeed strange, they are not all that easy to raise though, unless you have livestock that can provide blood, or unless you live in an area where you can buy raw blood. Keeping one in a jar can be tricky, because you don't want it getting disease, which tends to be the case with a smaller container like jar.

Most aquarists would rather refer to them as being closer to like being dedicated to keeping a plant. It's more of an item for whom the process of tending it is a hobby in itself. They're really more of a care intensive decoration.
