I'd recommend you choose a name from your own heart, but meh.

Male

If you want something formal, try names like: Lawrence, Richard, Clinton, and Marcus
For non-formal names, try: Nathan, Jack, Kevin, and Logan

Female

Formal: Madison, Valerie, Esther, and Katherine
Non-Formal: Lindsay, Nicole, Vicki, and Janet

Best of luck with your child!

Choose something that flows well with the child's last name.

for girls, I've always liked names that start with a K: Kate, Katelin, Karla (my cousin's name), even names with a C that still sounds like a K, like Crystal or Carmen are good. For guys, anything goes. I also like names of Saints or angels like Thomas, Gabriel, Michael, Joan. I think those are good because I believe the saint or angel actually looks down on that person from heaven and becomes a special helper. (sorry about injecting a little bit of Catholicism there)

Congratulations!

The only two names that I have ever really liked are:

Male: Soren
Female: Ligeia

The only problem that I can see happening is Ligeia getting shortened to Liggy. A good rule of thumb is any name over two syllables will be susceptable to shortening.

I guess I have a half-suggestion. Depending on if it's a boy or girl, how about you think of your absolute favorite (Because of cuteness and sweetness) anime character (One that looks human, of course) and pick that name?

That's... really weird...

"Hi, I'm Hiro!"

"Hi, I'm Matsuda!"

'Hi, I'm Honda!"

"Hi, I'm Light!"

"Hi, I'm L!"

"Hi, I'm Byakuya!"

... Riiiiight. XD Seriously, Bon Qui-Qui is the way to go. Girl or guy.

Definitely definitely avoid anime names. Just remember that what-ever name you pick your child will likely have to live with the rest of his life and kids can be down right MEAN.

Female: Caroline, Kim, Cassie, and Klara.
Male: Arthur, George, Edward, and Wayne.

Congratulations!! ^_^

Let's see...in terms of baby names, you should think about what would sound good with the last name. Also, despite the popularity of Saints' names, I personally think that those should be reserved for the baby's baptismal name (or middle name as it's better known). To me, this is because of Sainthood...I understand names like Francis are good but there's more than one Saint Francis, and even a Saint Frances. To me, there's nothing wrong with having a bunch of saints with the same name, but then...yeah...best to add variety, because you never know who God calls to become saints that are later recognized by many as such.

Sorry for the rant (if it was one), but anyways...as for the actual names, I can recommend a website for you: http://www.behindthename.com . This website is a great place to look up names, and even has names organized by theming, in case you want to pick a theme for your baby's name, like Biblical or maybe even based on a color. You can even search by language too.

As for names that I personally like:

Boys
Anthony
Bryan
Cody
Luke
Myles
Reuben
Robin
Ryan
Tyler
Zachary

(Yes, quite a few of them have 'Y' in there somewhere...)

Girls
Amber
April
Cassandra
Denise
Elise
Laura
Lily
Melanie
Olivia
Sydney
Robin
Rosalia
Zoe

I took the liberty of leaving out the Japanese names I like, but if you'd like to see them, I can post them.

Wow, tough.

Depends on what meaning(s) you want the name to have. If there's a family name you're partial to from anyone from a great aunt to your fifth cousin's son or whatever. Or look into name meanings - there are TONS of baby name websites on the internet.

I do suggest that, if you do give your child a 'unique' name, to at least give them a good, standard middle name, or visa versa. Kids can be terrible little beasts, and if there is some way of making fun of you with your name, they will find it. Also think about how a name might be abbreviated, what initials might spell, etc. And also give spelling a thought. Unconventional spelling of a name may look cool, but it's seriously aggravating when nobody can spell it right except for family and friends, and even then sometimes not. ^^ [/rant]

Girls: Janet, Chloe, Naomi
Boys: Bridger, Eli, Neal, Roman

Though, Bon Qui Qui is quite fantastic, and should be high on your list. :D

Just have fun, pick something that means something to you, and remember the child has to live with what you choose.

When one of the Trekkie couples in my acquaintance had a baby, it took a concerted group effort for us to talk them out of "Q".

They had a girl, as it turned out. Named her "Amanda". That's one of my favorite names, but I don't recall if I suggested it to them or not.

Please, PLEASE tell me they were kidding about wanting to name their kid Q. My gosh, that's pathetic. Not only is it a terrible name, Q was a jerk. I hated him so much. If they were seriously going to name their kid Q . . . you should have convinced them not to have more children. Sheesh. XD

Well, as it turns out, Amanda didn't get any younger siblings. And we never were sure if they were pulling our leg or not, although the wife just isn't good at keeping a straight face, so we assumed they may have been serious.

Actually, they're both pretty high intelligence types. The husband (one of my high school buddies) is one of those kinds who decided he didn't need college... then went out and proved himself right. He owned a paid-off house in a pretty high-end suburb before his fortieth birthday, and always buys his new cars with cash. (Literally, one time, just for the fun of it. I could have strangled him when he told me about that.)

So I have to assume his genes deserve replication. But on the other hand, he and several other members of my old high school gaming club (the kind that sits around with multi-sided dice, character sheets, and old-fashioned D&D manuals) still meets every Thursday night at his house (sans me. I burned out years ago.) Picture a bunch of late-forties guys (mostly bearded) slamming down beer, Bawls, or other beverages of choice and declaring "My dwarf takes a swing at the demon!", "Roll a twenty-sided die"...

Now picture what poor Amanda must think about her dad...
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Why are you asking random strangers on the Internet? O_O They might just suggest really weird embarrassing names XD Like Ima Hogg and Anita Bra.

You should totally give your kid a name from the opposite gender. Apparently there are people who name their sons Jennifer and their daughters Jonathan.

But yes, name sites are you friend.
