The One's You Love to Hate

Postby Spirit_Wolf8356 » Fri Apr 02, 2004 7:20 pm

This thread shall be dedicated to the villans of TV, anime, movies, and games that you can't help but like. They might not even be big villians, but they aren't the good guys either.

Mine, I have this strange fetish with Commodore Norrington. I can't help but like him. I know he technically isn't a bad guy, but still. Most of my favorite anime characters are bad guys too. ^_^ Like Sesshoumaru and Knives. NAd Aoshi. Can't forget Aoshi. So, anyone else have anyone?

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Actually the Commodore is a good guy. lol He is just a bit slow recognizing when to NOT kill a pirate

Hmm... I guess Darth Vader is a classic. And nearly all disney villains have a large dose of humor thrown in :)

Some badguys that I hate to hate: eggman, team rocket

Hmm, I have to say I really liked Zechs Marquise from the Gundam Wing series. He was always a big favorite with me--something about his bittersweet personality and past went a long way in my mind. And on a completely different topic, I liked the Nazi in Indiana Jones too.

Let's see....

1. Gendo Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
2. Hajime Saitoh (Rurouni Kenshin... more like an anti-hero than a villain)

3....

Yes, same here. I love his quote at the end... what was it? Something like, "I am a warrior and I will live life to the bitter end!" (I am not sure.)

That is all I can come up with for now.

heeheehee... I tend to have affinity for the "bad guys", for some reason... for example, Draco Malfoy. The guy's a total creep, but I *love* him! A few other favourites of mine would be Zoisite from Sailor Moon (I think it was the evil laugh), Kaworu from Evangelion (not exactly evil, I guess, but he was a very interesting, albeit sinister, character), and most of the Final Fantasy villains (Sephiroth! *_*)

by the way.. pardon my ignorance, but who is Commodore Norrington?
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

:eh: You pretty much stole my list Spirit Wolf - well minus Sess because you seriouslly have claim issues ^^; And well, minus Knives to ... maybe, have to think on that one a bit. And Aoshi, okay, we've come to an agreement. And yes, I realize I can't think on my own at the moment.

PotC - *points to Spirit Wolf's sig* Pretty much sums it up. But then again, you watch something so many times you forget how to "explain" things. At least in my case ^^; I know I'm not helpful at all.
"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

In Anime I definitely must say Zechs Marquise, as for reason before mentioned. Also, 'cause Gundam Wing is the only anime series I watched from beginning to end. In movies, Darth Vader is definitely a classic. General Leo, from Final Fantasy was an old favorite of mine, but he really was a bad guy. Yes, Mr Smith is cool. I know there's another..... I can't put my finger on them..........

That guy had scary hair, if I'm remembering correctly.

Hmm... You know, I liked the lady in "The Emperor's New Groove," the one who turned the emperor into a llama. Kronk made her funny, though. =)

OH yes.... *remembers at the last second to behave while in present company* Yes, I like Jareth. He's a hottie... an unlikely hottie, but a hottie nonetheless.

I also thought Magneto from X-Men was cool (not a hottie though). And the blue chick.... what was her name? Mystique. She was cool too.

Oh, and we can't forget our favorite bad girl, Lara Croft.

I would go cliche and say Kefka from Final Fantasy VI....that dude was completely warped and would dispose of anything. Luca Blight from Suikoden II was exactly the same too. I just find something in villians who are cold and don't care about anything around them...that just makes them villains.

Sephiroth from whatever Final Fantasy game he's in. He's cool dude.

Izma. Gotta love Izma. That is another movie I've seen so many times, I can quote it multiple times out of the blue. "Now, who's sitting in my chair?" "Oh, oh, I know! I know! Izma! Izma'a in your chair." "Very good, Kronk."

"Think of it as you're being let go. That your life is part of a permanent outplacement." "Hey, that's like what he said to you, only you got fired." "I know Kronk. It's called a cruel irony, like my dependence on you."

Rufus from FF7. Now that guy knew how to wear a suit!
Garr from Breath Of Fire 3. Technically this guy WAS a badguy up until you become older Ryu because he is planning on killing him (but he doesn't which is good) and also Rei from Breath Of Fire 3 (not Ayanami) because you have to fight him when he becomes the weretiger. Rei is such a kool character... and also, proper badguys Sunder and Barlio. They were wicked characters, shame they got killed after beating them on the bridge...

I can't believe I found a fellow Kefka fan right here at CAA! Yeah Kefka is awesome! He is on my favorite characters list. And yes, I do have an actual list of all my ultimate favorite characters.

A very big percentage of my favorite characters are bad guys. And then if they're not bad guys, they have either turned bad once in the show or they are cold to their friends/teammates. Y'know, the cold type. For example, Kai from Beyblade, or Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho.

Uh oh, Spirit Wolf. You should have known better than to start this thread and let me notice. Now you must face the horror of my ranting about how cool Perfect Cell, from DBZ, is. Mwahahaha! As I have said many times in other threads, Cell is my ultimate favorite character of anything! Just look at my avatar and sig! I have two different Cell action figures, I'm hoping soon to be three. And I'm dying to get the Cell Games Saga DVD's! Cell rocks!

Some other favorite villains would be:
Yami Bakura (Yugioh)
Sephiroth (FF7)
Black Wargreymon (Digimon)
Kefka (FF3/FF6)

Arg! I can't think of any at the moment! I'll probably be back when I remember!

Oh and, my dad just loves Kronk! He thinks he's hilarious! I do too. His favorite line is, "The peasant at the diner! He didn't pay his check!"

Kronk is the coolest. Specially with his shoulder angels.

My own picks:

Alden Pyle from "The Quiet American"
Kaiser Soze "The Usual Suspects"
The young foot soldier from "Now and Then, Here and There" (I can't remember his name)
Emperor Dornkirk - "Vision of Escaflowne"
Folken Fanel- "Vision of Escalflowne"
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.
