Why can't I hate Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers? By all standards I should hate this show. Lame one liners (morphinomenal:shake:), awkward editing, deus ex machina writing, and outright campiness. But, why whenever I see a clip, does my heart swell with nostalgia? I can't understand why something in me still feels happy with it. Can anyone relate to this? Is it the wholesomeness of the show, maybe?

While terribly cheesy in everything from story to diolouge, the fight scenes do create an adrenaline rush in u becuase of the fast pacing and anime-ishness of the martial arts fighting.......But, that's about all it has going for it......

Very true, I also made that connection. I do respect it for its creativity and I never said I actually did hate it, I just still think fondly of it despite its shortcomings.

Because it was a childhood memory that I never want to forget? XD I only liked the first 4 seasons though.. Once Zeo happened... I was like "No. Way. EW"

I loved the Originals: Billy, Tommy, Zac, Kimberly, Trini, umm... was the Red guy Ryan?

And then When Aisha, and Adam (YAY JOHNNY!) Came...it was still awesome...

Once those guys left I was like "Yeah... I'm gonna go..watch something else.. XD)

I'll admit when that new season, with the dinosaurs came on...and I saw that the guy that played Tommy was in it, I watched...for a guilty bit of nostalgia. XD.

YES the series was campy, and lame...but come on! It was made for KIDS, of course it would be, and I never noticed it...

Can't stand Power Rangers, but I did/ and still do enjoy Monkey (Magic) a very cheesy martial arts fantasy series from the 70's.

I find it amusing to look back at the series and see the things I didn't notice as a kid, such as the fact that the yellow ranger was actually a guy in the original Japanese. O.o And here as a kid I just thought the pink ranger was the girly-girl.

W-What?! The Yellow Ranger was ALWAYS my favorite... (as mentioned in my last post XD) I HATED the Pink Ranger too girly for my tastes XD. I liked Trini and Aisha... >_> They were awesome. Although I remember Aisha more than Trini...

The reason why is because it was easier to write self-contained plotlines than to have each season lead into the next like they did. It also helped to get rid of the Deus ex Machina feeling of "Oh hey, your old powers are gone, but here's some new power we had lying around that you can use!"

It also helped to get rid of the questions of "Why can't they use the old Zords? Where did the new Zords come from?" It provides more freedom and flexibility to the writers, and what's more, it allows for contractual stability. Instead of just "Hey you're on the show until you leave or we decide to get rid of you" it's "Hey you're on this 26 episode season" or however long a PR season is. That way you don't have stuff happen like the second season where Trini, Zack, and Jason got replaced, and they had to use mirrors and stunt doubles in the last part of the episode to hide the fact that they up and quit.

It's hard to notice stuff when you're a kid. XD Like when they formed the old Megazord and they pulled out the crystals, you could see "Zyuranger" on their belts. Anyway, the "continuing team" aspect continued through Zeo, Turbo, and then Power Rangers in Space. After that is when they started the self-contained stories, except for the crossover specials like Forever Red and Once a Ranger.

I watched and enjoyed the originals and a couple of seasons, I guess, after those (I don't really remember) even after the craze passed among the kids at school.

Pink was more popular than yellow among the people I knew, but I always preferred the green-bad-guy-turned-good (from the original series).

As to why you can't hate it, I don't know. I obviously don't watch it anymore, but I don't hate it because it holds good memories and I enjoyed it as a kid.

The original story line ended in the season that Zordon died and all evil was destroyed . That is when I stoped watching it.
