Cowboy Bebop

Live Action Cowboy Bebop movie

ifmagazine wrote:THE SKINNY: If anybody is in the mood for some exhilarating, long-anticipated, previously-unannounced breaking news about anime series COWBOY BEBOP, iF Magazine has the exclusive scoop for you.

We caught up with producer-extraordinaire Erwin Stoff at the NBC TCAs where he was promoting his upcoming updated-David-and-Goliath-based show KINGS. When asked about other projects he is currently working on, Stoff, let slip some very juicy news about a very beloved anime franchise.

This will probably be pretty awesome. I don't really see how they could screw it up. It shouldn't be that hard to bring to film, but if they do somehow mess it up, the anime world will be very sad and angry.

Wow.

This is one of my favorite anime series ever, and one of the first I ever watched. I'm eager to see how they do this... partially nervous, but also very excited. It will be odd to see/hear it in English, (with what I'm assuming will be a western cast). However, the dub of Bebop WAS one of the best ever done imho. XD
I'm gonna keep track of this because I'm really interested.
One thing... the soundtrack. Man how much I loved the anime soundtrack! That is one area that I am sure can be nowhere near as good. haha But I have high hopes!

Thanks for sharing Roy!!! Bebop holds such a special place in my heart, so this info is appreciated!

If anything,I hope they have Yoko Kanno doing the music..Cowboy Bebop just wouldn't be the same without her.

frankly, though i am quite hyped up about this, i have many doubts about it. i seriously doubt that the movie will be able to capture the essence of the anime, nor will it be able to live up to the standards set by the anime series.

Yeah, I liked Cowboy Bebop very much as well. But, it's always cautious optimism regarding anime or video games to live action. I think it will be hard to really create something that will amaze people. And, no one wants their favourite anime series or movie made into a less than stellar live-action movie. That would be a huge letdown. Like with Speed Racer.

You know it is quite interesting that there are quite a few anime to live-action being planned and also some classic US animation to live-action as well. I really wonder how many of these will truly be done well.

Just to add. I love the Ghost in the Shell movies and series. And, even though it's Spielberg. I'm still a little bit skeptical.

I'm a little bit more optimistic about James Cameron regarding Battle Angel Alita.
I like how his female characters in past movie are quite strong and courageous. And, I think he'll have good storytelling not just focus on action.

I wonder about Voltron and other as well.

Anyways, I also wish they keep Yoko Kanno's music!

Uncomfirmed, but Keaneu Reeves is slated for spike. My enthusiasm is a balloon. This news is a needle.

You know, I don't like him really but watching the series, Spike always reminded me of Ben Affleck. Same build, same walk, similar facial structure... and I'd prefer him over Keanu Reeves at least (I read that too >.< I'm sorry but Keanu sucks... the only things he was any good in were the Matrix and Bill and Ted... and that's cause he really didn't act much in either of those)

If that does come out to be true, then yuck!

Really, if they can't get Yoko Kanno to do the music, then I will be happy if they could get at least Steve Conte to do a few songs.

Honestly, it should come as no surprise. As I've heard it told one of the major names backing the project is a man with a notorious reputation for casting Keanu in just about everything he does.

You lost me at "live action anime".

Cowboy Bebop is fine as is. It's over, leave it the heck alone.
