Everyone should write an autobiography.

With publishing on demand so easy now, and nearly everyone knowing how to type, I think everyone should write an autobiography. I don't mean they should try to publish and sell it, but simply make it to give to friends and family (or maybe different versions for different friends or family)

Everyone has had interesting memories, and if they take the time to explain them and organize them, they'd make great books for people who already know you. Maybe not for a buying audience, of course, but there's no need to sell things like this anymore... You can publish a small number of books just for fun, and a paperback or even hardback autobiography would make a great gift for a friend, especially if you included pictures from those memories.

Just one of my thoughts... I'm gonna make one. I don't know who will read it, but I love sharing my memories with people, and keeping archives of these things...

But seriously, writing down one's best memories (especially those of others) is a great idea. I mean that.

I'm not so sure about that myself...to be honest....given that most of my past memories with what went on with my father were very terrible....
Fortunately the Lord is a very great healer.

I might write one after I'm done writing these books about God to honer and promote his name in the media industry.

Can't say I've had a particularly interesting life, but I've always wondered how one would tackle an autobiography. Do you do a straight chronological telling like Richard Wagner's My Life, which is a fairly matter of fact chronicle of Wagner telling everyone how great he is (couldn't finish it), or do you jump around like Johnny Cash does in his second autobiography, which jumps around pretty much. Its a hard question to answer, but I suppose the first thing would be to have an interesting experience to tell off.

Travel writing is also an interesting form of autobiography which is probably easier to write annd a great deal of fun as well.

Strangely I've always thought that a good way to open mine would be: "Let me tell you this: being an idiot is no box of chocolate," which is also how the novel Forrest Gump opens. Noodle that one.

It's definitely a great idea! The only problem is that I don't have enough time. I know it's summer, but it seems like my summers a bit busier that I'd expected...

The problem with me is that I can't get my thoughts down on paper (or even typing, and I'm a fast typer) fast enough. And on the other hand, I don't write consistently enough.

When I get around to it, I will definitely write an autobiography.

However, I am keeping a dream journal. Is anyone else doing that? I have a wild imagination, so some of my dreams can be pretty wild. It's pretty fun going back and seeing what you dream. (Hah, most of my dreams come out like stories. Strange...)

Wow that's scary!

But seriously, I can just imagine my buddies telling me with a plastered smile "Sure MB, I'll read it no problem" then dividing it up between each other to read a chapter each or something, writing mini summaries, reading the summaries and then telling me how "riviting" my story is... lol, but that's just cuz my life is not all that exciting and mostly centered around work, study and ratties!

Although it could be a very fun project to tackle, maybe I'll try it!
