Well, they're just vegan because we don't use real butter, eggs, or milk in the recipe.

How's the texture without eggs or egg substitute? :\ Cakey things need to have some fluffiness somehow. I'd be worried that without something to substitute for the egg, they'd just be...not fluffy.

They are still very fluffy! The only problem I come across with egg substitute is when I use box mixes. If you're not careful, the cake can be a tad on the crumbly side. The taste isn't changed at all but if you don't wait long enough for the cake to cool before you ice it, it can fall apart. In order to counteract this, I have begun using mashed bananas along with some egg replacer. The banana doesn't alter the flavor at all, yet it provides enough stickiness to the mixtures to maintain its original consistency.
Mashed cucumber also works well. But my FAVORITE replacer is a can of pumpkin!! Now this DOES add a very very slight pumpkin flavor, but unless you're looking for it, you most likely won't taste it. Though this works wonderfully for holiday baked goods.

However, the homemade, from scratch recipes that don't call for eggs, or that call for egg replacers, are just fine. There is no fluffiness lost nor are the cakes dry. They are still very moist and totally delicious~~!~

Happy eating <3

Yeah, I know. :) Non-vegan is just immediately associated with meat and not all the other animal products.

I went vegetarian for about six months. I didn't eat any meat products, including fish, tho I did eat products with egg and daiiry in it occassionarlly.

It really wasn't that bad ^_^ but then I wanted fish again lol

I just did it cuz I didn't crave meat or anything so *shrug* my body really only wanted fruits and veggies. I felt good too when I was only eating that ^_^

While I respect the vegtarian view (the vegiview for those of you who dislike excessive syllables) I know that I could not do it as I am a weirdo who never learned to like his veggies. There are some that I appreciate and eat on a regular basis, but not enough to craft an entire diet from.

And I consider one of the biggest upcoming challenges that I will have as a parent one day is to teach my kids to not be like me. XD

Broccoli is on my good list as long as you don't cook it. Belch.

I am quite a fan of steamed broccoli. =) Add a little bit of sesame seeds and then they're awesome.

Oh, and speaking of broccoli, YOU ALL MUST WATCH THIS:

I hate broccoli but that video was very cute.
I still don't know what type of animal that was though. It's like someone took the body of hamster and enlarged the head of a prarie dog (or something).
Very cute though.

Wow. Really? It sure didn't look like a hamster.

As far as the topic of the thread is concerned, I approve of anyone becoming a vegetarian.

It leaves more meat for me.

I agree with everything this man says. *Takes a bite offa Rub* ... mmhmm!
