I thought this was pretty cool --I've heard of service dogs that do this, but not a cat.

ASPCA Success Story of the Week: Love Hurts

ImageRebecca Shaw of Portland, OR, knew her beloved Sascha, who passed away in 2007, was a rare feline. “She loved to play tag with my two cockatiels, play fetch with flip flops and took walks with me on a harness and leash,â€
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Wow, that's awesome. I've also heard of other cats that can do this. I wonder if they have to be trained or what?

That's crazy! But awesome!
Reminds me of how this group was trying to train dogs to sniff out cancer in people.

Dogs and cats both have been known to register the subtle changes in biochemistry that herald dangerous conditions. Precisely how the know is not understood, but changes in the breath are a good possibility. They can smell the changes in the contents of our exhalations.

One of my cats meows and scolds me if she thinks I'm laughing too hard... Does that count as a medical alert cat?

Awwwh, this is such a heartwarming story! I love animals so very much! They are so much more intelligent than we give them credit for.

As a child, I suffered from a plethora of health problems. I especially had problems with my lungs, as an asthmatic, pneumonia has been a terrible struggle for me. When I was 9, I had pneumonia three times in one year. With each bought, my cat Patches would lay by my side and not move an inch. Whenever my fever reducers began to wear off, she could tell and would lick my forehead over and over again. My Nanna would take my temperature and see, indeed, I was spiking a high fever again and would administer more medicine.

She was a remarkable cat.
All God's creatures are precious and astounding in their own ways!

My old cat, Shena, when my mom had the flu would curl up on her every time she had the shivers. ^_^
