Engrish you've spotted in real life

Out of curiousity, has anyone ever seen engrish signs in real life? I found this a few weeks ago at my mother's store:

I had to add in the word "for" in it. XD

Well, it isn't Engrish, strictly speaking, but in my favorite Japanese buffet, over the bar, the sign "Commuting is hard? Try having a drink this time!" has got to raise a few eyebrows.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Yeah, I have seen a sign in Oslo that had a George Washington sorta poster saying. "We want you for dinner!" It was a resturant mind you, I just think it gave the wrong message. XD

Other than that there has been some Norgrish if you like. Someone mistaked the Z's for S's. The resulting sentance was something like. *We have peed in our freezer, only 24.99!* When what they where aiming for was. *We have pizza in our freezer, only 24.99!*

Oh, and can't forget the. " We are currently away, but we will be back for merry christmas and happy holiday."

Ive probably seen some signs like that.

But just because this is funny, I want to say it. One vacuum store had this slogan. "Our vacuums really suck."

My best friend Makiko and I were at a restaurant the other day with a bunch of English speaking only friends... she wanted to show me a cute trick by tying a rubber band around a pair of chopsticks. So she asks very loudly, "Hey! Do any of you have a rubber? I need a rubber." XD XD XD I had to quietly explain to her the connotation that has in English. 可哀想! 恥ずかしいかった! Poor thing she was so embarrassed!

Aaaaand my favorite guy of all time showing some adorable Engrish~~!~ It's worth a look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z89tYFe65Po

Yeah, I just got back from a Japan/Taiwan trip. I got so many Engrish pictures I eventually just though, what's the point? That's enough. Here's a sample, and quite appropriate to this forum, I think.

I'm going to disqualify this one, I think. The "Hidden Christians" were the Kakure Kirishitan (although 'Kirishitan' isn't the most common term in modern Japanese. It's a direct rendering of the Portuguese word) They were the faithful who continued worshipping in secret after the banning of Christianity in the 17th century. Their religion evolved away from standard Christianity somewhat (they'd begun as Roman Catholics, but after being cut off from Rome, they developed some unorthodox theologies.) Even if "Spring of Hidden Christians" sounds funny, I'm guessing this sign is a perfecly good rendering into English. They could have added a 'The', I guess. (Japanese has no direct cognate for words like 'a' and 'the', so they tend to forget them when translating into English.)

Interesting side note. Many of the descendants of the Kakure Kirishitan rejoined the Catholic Church, and largely account for the 1-2% of the population that is Christian, but some of them remained separate, and although they've largely moved back toward mainstream Chistian theology, they still maintain some of their locally synthesized beliefs (that came about from absorbing some Shinto principles into Christianity) and as a vestige of their underground times, some of their houses of worship have no visible symbols of Christianity.

There are also claims that a much larger secret church still exists, still underground and still maintaining their part-Christian, part-Shinto belief system.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

I've seen a lot of bad English in South Africa, but since its from South Africa, does that make it Engrish? I mean, with 11 official languages someone is bound to slip up.

How broadly are we defining "Engrish"? Because native speakers make a ton of mistakes as well. I know, I have to grade some of these papers.

Meanwhile, this image is obligatory for all such threads:

My friend Tim told us about a funny one he saw in Japan. It was at a restaurant and I think they were trying to say "Please don't touch the glass."

But instead, it said "Please it with your glass."

Enough said. XD
