Why the hate?

Talk about anything in here.

Nate, you're being extremely rude...

If you want to defend people's perversions, go ahead, but have some tact.

Oh wait, my bad. I guess I was defending the rights of gay people on a Christian board. Whoops. Should have remembered where I was. Don't worry, next time I see someone acting racist or bigoted I'll be sure to ignore it.

With all due respect, you're the one responsible for exploding this whole thing. You're the one that decided to go and personally tell how somebody thinks.

As Shao said, it's perfectly fine to present a counter-argument to what somebody says, but what you did was just waaaaay out of line there.

Wow, that's the first time that someone's said I'm not a fur; from either the furry community or elsewhere o_O

Tundrawolf (post: 1234213) wrote:Do a search for "VCL Furry". Educate yourself.

>_> I don't think that you should be deliberately promoting people to check out a porn website here...

Tundrawolf (post: 1234213) wrote:Also disingenuous. So many people who like to retort to what I say are so frequently this way. Listen:Sun, trees, wind, soil, rain, lightening=unavoidable. Furry art and the furry community:avoidable. Use some sense, please!

So what you're saying is that I should flee from California because there are a lot of homosexuals here and I can live somewhere else (ie, California = avoidable)? Or that I should denounce my family because they were in the Nazi party back in WWII?
D:
Again I say that just because part of a community does something wrong doesn't make the whole community bad. If that were the case, we would all have to live like solitary hermits.[/quote]

Tundrawolf (post: 1234213) wrote:If I were to post some of the pictures I have seen, you would understand the depravity I am speaking of. I would be banned from here-and what would be the point of that?

People draw/do equally bad things, using humans and not furs though. Does that mean that all humans are evil?
...
Well, he might have me there.

Tundrawolf (post: 1234213) wrote:Also, do not say that I am saying all furries are evil-I am not. They have some beautiful, exceptionally drawn artwork. I am trying to get the point across that the entire thing might not be beneficial, and may lead to the tripping up of people. Does that make sense???

It makes sense, but I don't think that the problem lies with the furry fandom. I think the revolution of the internet is far more to blame for the problems people are describing. For the first time in history, people are able to say/draw what they want and how they want and have it viewable by millions while keeping nearly perfect anonymity... without leaving their houses or referencing it in their AFK life. For some reason, it's the furries who take most of the bad rap because of this, but I honestly believe that is misdirected scorn.

I'm going to assume it's number two. If it's number one, I'll be sure to have public sex outside your door every day because it's perfectly acceptable.

._.
getting a lil too personal...

-_-;; Geez. You know, it's probably best to drop the whole homosexuality issue, but for the record it seemed to me that both TundraWolf AND Nate were overreacting. You guys probably could have said what you said in a better way. ^^;;

On topic though, as to the reason why so many people hate furries, again I think it has to do with the extremists who give the rest of the community a bad name to outsiders. A similar example can be found within the anime community. We have the extreme, Japan-obsessed fans who use random Japanese words in their every day language and do nothing but talk about manga and tell/force other people to read it. Does that mean all anime fans are like this? No, but I've met a lot of non-anime fans who think so.

It's always the extremists, no matter what group you're talking about really, who end up giving a bad reputation for the rest of the group.

.___________. ...is it really bad if I laughed out loud at Nate's comment?

Hrm. I know some people who just like anthros and draw humanoid animals, and they call themselves furries. I don't consider them as such, but I guess it's a loosely-defined term, and I don't have a problem with this specific group.

... actually, I had to draw a furry for a commission once. But it was just someone's original character and had nothing to do with him. That, and the character was also male and just designed to look "cool" with nothing sexual, so I assume it was harmless.

I think this discussion is going nowhere. CAA's theology and flaming rules are pretty clear, but even aside I think the sheer futility of this argument merits a locking. Everyone get off the computer and go plant a tree or volunteer at a soup kitchen.
