Here's a question for all of you!

Talk about anything in here.

Here's a question for all of you!

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:31 pm

So let's say that you've been evading your taxes for the past couple years. The IRS has found out and are on their way to arrest you. You have a spouse and three kids. Your only option is to flee the country. (No, you are not allowed to be righteous and give yourself in to the IRS. You must be immoral for this question.)

Assuming that whichever country you fled to would provide safety for the rest of your life, where would you flee? Bear in mind that the country you decide would mean you would be spending the rest of your life in, and you cannot move anywhere else.

Also, explain WHY.

Canada because it's easy, close to America in terms of culture, and close. Barring that? England. 'Cause england is great.

Australia. Because Aussies are cool, and Strine is close enough to English that you can understand it most of the time.

Japan... I may face rampant racism and a glass ceiling and potentially **** off the nationalists if I stay too long and risk my life, but at least I'll be able to spank my kids without being arrested and I can get a job as an English teacher with my Bachelor of Science in Game Art... True story.

EDIT: Woah, I guess I haven't spent too much time at CAA recently... I didn't think that would be censored. Ah, well.

Either Ireland or England because of the same language. And also for Ireland the rolling green hills.

Although Id most likely go to England because of the whole religion(I don't like refering it to this because its really more of a relationship.) thing.

Probably Austrailia... because it seems pretty...but baring that, I would say England... (Austrailia has crazy bugs... >_<)

Countries with free healthcare and college are soo deceiving and I would have to pay taxes that are WAY more expensive than they are here... ^^;

My dad went to Norway for a business trip a few years back and he had to pay the equivelent of 20 American Dollars for a Fish Sandwich at McDonald's...

I would've gone for Ireland too, but the whole fighting in the streets thing kind of makes me shy. Also, it's not quite as english as you'd think. They've got their own tongue and it can be pretty hard to understand.

Japan...and I'd be living in a smaller town, doing as much as I could to survive.

But, before that, I'd fake my death...and have a new identity ready and waiting for me.

Well yeah... but it's not expensive compared to the average income. In fact, Norway is #2 on the standard-of-living ranking, after Iceland. I wouldn't go to Iceland though; those geysirs can be pretty hostile, from what I hear :)

Who are your relatives by the way? We're not THAT many here, you know... Maybe I know them!

I would probably go to South Korea -- I have friends there (that were students here) and could probably pick up the language through immersion. Plus, I LOVE Korean food! Bolgolgi and kimchi pancakes are amazing!

If that doesn't work, then Australia. They have cool wildlife found nowhere else and their accents are just hot.... I could use my Animal Science degree to find a job somewhere. But I'm kind of wary of the venomous snakes/spiders...

Canada if I have a husband and kids it would be an easier move for everyone. Plus I could work on my French while I was there.

I would send my spouse and kids to England because I have friends there who could take care of them, and then I would move to Columbia and become a drug lord. Fun!

I would move to England.

First of all, I was born there and would still be a citizen (I think?) and I know people there.

New Zealand all the way man. They speak English, have weird animals, and lush rainforests. Tons of movies are shot there every year, and the country is stable, with little internal strife. Taxes are pretty low too, I think. The country is like an adventure waiting to happen.

But seriously...I would go to Antarctica just because there's no government there...so no one could get paid or convinced to aid in arresting me...
