well the kid just got hit in the leg. i think he'll be over it in a couple days.

if the hedgehog died because of that, then of course i would feel more sorrow for the hedgehog than the kid. XD

I thought hedgehogs were limited the US and Canada, porcupines to Europe, and echidnas to Australia and Paupa New Guinea?

What's a hedgehog doing in New Zealand?

No.

The hedgehogs people in the USA and Canada keep for pets actually are native to Africa and Europe. I guess the same applies to hedgehogs being in New Zealand.

Tsukuyomi, for the love of toothpaste, you've never heard of Papua New Guinea? What do they teach in these schools? It's a country above Australia that shares land with Indonesia (light cream area).
Image

And echidnas? Well, they're cute little monotremes/marsupials that live in the Australia bush and some deserts, while the Papua New Guinea species are much bigger and live in the rainforest areas.

One of the Australian species:

If I had to go to jail, this would be the way I would get in.

A more serious charge of assault with a weapon — the hedgehog — was dropped. The maximum penalty for that charge is five years in prison.

That means that on top of the fine he might have to serve some time. 'Cuz he dropped a hedgehog...

Actually it means the possibility of jail time was dropped because the hedgehog was ruled in court not to be considered a weapon.

Was it like.. attacking the man, so he grabbed it and chucked it in a random direction and hit the kid on accident? Sounds kinda fare fetched, but.. who knows u_u It'll just be another mystery of the internets u_u/

Could happen--

Saturday, I was driving through LSU (Louisiana State University) on a small street, and I came to a full stop to avoid hitting a turtle that was crossing the road. I flipped on my hazard lights, stepped out, grabbed the little critter (Who immediately ducked inside in his or her shell) and put it back in the grass pointing towards the lake. At first, the line of traffic behind me was confused as to why I came to an all stop in the middle of the street, but the car directly behind me saw what I was doing and gave a wave.

NO animal has died while I've been behind the wheel of a vehicle, and I refuse to let that turtle be first! But that just goes to show, you find wildlife in the oddest places.

I doubt that, hedgehogs aren't exactly very big or dangerous.

On the way to a holiday destination, we almost hit an iguana crossing the highway but my dad was able to swerve. Unfortunately an oncoming car hit it instead, decapitating it. It was (mildly) upsetting.
