Braces!!!

So, who all has had braces? I had both braces and the pallet expander thingy (you know, that thing that you crank with a key that pretty much splits your mouth open.)

I had braces between the ages of 12 and 14, followed by a few years with a retainer. I also had to wear the rubber bands, but more often than not I forgot to put them in.

Fortunately, I've never had to have braces or a retainer (or a filling for that matter).

Guilty. I had braces from 7th grade til the middle of 10th grade. Yuck; it didn't help it took them a long, long time to figure out I was allergic to the rubber bands I had to wear. XP

Currently have a bottom retainer and I *should* be wearing a plastic top one. But those things are so cheap...I'd much rather have a permanent one on top too.

I was lucky. I never needed braces, retainers, etc. My teeth just grew straight. Of course, my dental history was not perfect. I had to get my wisdom teeth removed during my freshman year in high school.

Also, at the end of last year, my dentist discovered deeply hidden in my gums that I grew an extra, well-developed tooth that could only be detected with an X-ray shot at a certain angle that is rarely taken during normal checkups. Apparently, this extra tooth escaped detection for the past six years. I had surgery to get rid of that tooth (practically painless and worry-free). When the surgeon looked at my teeth before surgery, he complimented me on my straight teeth and asked when I had braces....

Well, anyway, I have family members who had braces, and I can tell it was not a fun experience. So I guess I can say I sympathize a little with fellow members' experiences with braces despite my dental luck.

Whoa lets see.. Most of my life revolved around my teeth and the dentist. I mean, I hardly ever went to the doctors (except for ness. shots) but I had a bunch of teeth problems. First off, when I was in 2nd grade I had a cavity filled, 5th grade 2 more fillings and a root canail, then; 2 gum infection, then 7th grade ANOTHER root canal, after that 9th grade til now I am currenlty wearing braces w/ rubberbands (this is my third year!)

I suffered through around 2 years of braces, a couple more with a retainer, and a grand total of 13 tooth extractions and two oral surgeries. But my teeth look good! *rubs jaw meditatively*

It's begining to look like CAA is responsible for putting most dentist's/orthodontist's children through college.

Woah, Shooraijin, 13 tooth extractions? That’s like *stops to count teeth*, 1/3 of all the teeth in your head!?!?!?????

I never have had braces, but I needed them for my bottom teeth. I guess my family just never had the money. But it’s not so bad; my huge over bite covers them all quite nicely. ^^
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Lol, guess there's more people that have had braces than I thought ^^v I had them a couple of years ago, but it was only for about a year... I got them on the week before my birthday and about the same time the next year. I had to have jello for my birthday dinner twice in a row XD It was kindof funny... I like jello though. Hee hee. Now I have one of those invisoline retainers that I'm supposed to wear each night but I don't really wear it as much as I should... 0_o

nnn, I have braces, I get 'em off on my next trip though!! IN April. *nods vigerously* I had a pallet-expander thing too for 6 months. I swear, those were invented as torture devices!!! :shake: I also have rubberbands. Well, "have". I've had 'em for almost a year now, but I never wear them, and my brothers take them, and the orthodontist doesn't seem to notice so...

It's not quite that bad because a number of them were baby teeth, not permanent teeth, and while I *am* missing a number of permanent teeth (when all's totalled up), I have a smaller mouth cavity so it doesn't appear like any are missing (contrary to public opinion about just how big my mouth actually is ;) ).

Neah! I had to have 4 teeth pulled and that was quite enough for me. I hate shots with a passion, though, so that could be why. I had braces for 2 years after that. About a year of that I was supposed to wear the rubber bands... but I didn't. The orthodonists didn't seem to notice anyways. Then I got them off and had to wear a retainer for a year. Now I only have to wear it at night.

Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."
