Hm.. I could have sworn I posted in that thread. :eyebrow: Anyway, I personally come from a family of 8 kids. It can be great, but I wonder how much personal time each of the 18 get with their parents.

.......

I just don't think this is cool at all. I mean, they're in their 40s now. Who's going to raise their little babies when they get old and die? The older siblings? I just don't really think that's fair. I also don't think it's fair to have so many kids in the first place-- how can they afford that, and how do they spend any time with all those kids? I mean, maybe it's possible, but...meh. This is one of those things that really sets me off.

My family is all K names, EXCEPT me. I'm the black sheep >_>;

My dad was one in 12 siblings... at least, I think it's 12... but I think some of them weren't actually his blood siblings, but some other family's kids that still count or something? And of course, I have to call them by their aunt or uncle number (Uncle 7, Aunt 2, etc), and I can never remember the right number.

I think the fact that I can't even keep all of my uncles and aunts straight says something about big families >_>; My dad, for example, doesn't even know his real birthday because my grandmother forgot, so he just adopted one of his brothers' birthday.

EEK! I don't know how old you are, but you just made yourself sound very young, speaking of their children being little babies when their parents get old and die. How old do you think they'll be when they die? My mom was 42 when she had my youngest brother. I mean, maybe if they had their last child at 70, I could see your point, but 41? There's still plenty of time, excluding other things that could end their lives sooner (accidents, disease, etc.) :lol:

Sorry, I just found your comment kind of funny, and I couldn't help but respond. I'd agree more with ChurchPunk's comment regarding how much time each child gets with their parents. That'd be more my concern about having that many children. And where do you find a house big enough? You'd practically need a hotel. :eyebrow:

Oh, Minakichan, you mentioned your father not knowing his real birthday. I don't know where you are from, but wouldn't there be a birth record somewhere? Or a birth certificate? I was just curious about that. :)

Hmm... he was born in China, but the family fled to Taiwan when he was an infant, so that might have something to do with it. I also think he was born in the countryside so =/

He still expects presents and stuff on his "birthday" XD;;;

They aren't Catholic, they're "conservative Baptist". They are part of an unusual approach to families called the Quiverfull movement based on a verse in Psalms they have essentially taken to mean that you should not use any form of birth control or method, at all, ever, because it interferes with "God's family planning".
The Duggars actually have organized their lives so that they live debt-free and without any assistance. If you watch the specials on them it will probably impress you with how organized the mother is to keep everything in order while the kids still get a full education and learn to play instruments.
Quiverfull has a website if you want to look it up. The Duggars used to have a website outlining their beliefs and containing a statement of faith, but now it's just a link to the Discovery site.

....LOL....:lol:.....
Though, I can't see myself being in a family that big, I say if it's workin for them (meaning if they can support all those kids and if God wants them to be that fruitfall) then kudos to them......
....I love how when ppl interview them or run into their family, they just don't understand why someone would want a family that big...espeically when all these kids seem more mature then ur typical kid or tween or teen...It's hilarious and it rocks to see the looks on their faces.....

For boy names, you still have

J
JJ

If they do run out of names, they can go the George foreman way and call them all Josh Jr, the III, the IV, V.

[quote]where chores —]

They sure like the letter J, don't they. I wonder, when the jurisdiction to clean the bathroom, they tell them to clean the John. Also, I guess they buy alphabet soup that only has the letter J in it as well.

And this post has been bought to you by the letter J.

I think it's pretty darn cool. Of course, I'm the oldest of only four kids... XD

Not to mention, I think the lady is due for menopause pretty soon anyways. Just think about it... A lot of the kids are older know and can help with the home schooling and can ever school themselves. It's not like Mom needs to do everything. Heck, a ten year old can know how to do laundry...

God will let you have as many kids as he wants you to have. My family is Catholic and God decided my parents should raise just me and my brother. It would seem that God knows the Duggars can handle that many kids and has blessed them greatly. So we should be happy for them. :) It's not the lifestyle for everyone, and it's amazing that they're able to keep everything neat and ordered.

And let's keep it civil, people. Stereotyping is just wrong (and hopefully you already knew that). And what if random people come on here and see the above tussle and take it as an example of "Christian charity?" That would not be good.

Ugh, but yeah. Quiverfull. Sorry but I can't support an organization that wants women to remain "barefoot and pregnant" as the saying goes. I make jokes about women needing to make me sandwiches and getting back in the kitchen, but those are jokes. These people are serious about it, and that's just disgusting.

I don't mind people with big families. That's cool I guess, even though I can't for the life of me see why they would want families that big. The part that upsets me is that this woman has basically been in a state of CONSTANT pregnancy. That almost seems like a form of abuse to me. :\

haha I just was told about this by my Dad yesterday! XD However Nate made a valid comment about the lady being constantly pregnant.. *shivers* I think it'd be not that great as a girl myself...and I REALLY hope that the guy actually loves the lady...otherwise it REALLY is abuse...

haha I agree with you Amzi! XD I think its crazy that they are all homeschooled and I read that they all take violin and piano lessons as well.. (I read mine on MSN.ca)....this guy must seriously make a lot of money...any one know exactly what he does for a living?

As to the Quiverfull thing....ummm yeah I don't mind the concept of a large family but....*shivers* just because your religion says children are a gift from God doesn't mean you have to purposefully impregnate your wife every 18 months...ADOPT PEOPLE!!
