Question about making buttons to sell...

Postby dyzzispell » Thu May 08, 2008 6:53 am

Hey all,
I've been trying to get a general consensus of what people like in buttons. I want to get a button maker for our next convention, but I don't know what size to get. I'm looking at probably 1" or 1.25". Do you guys like buttons? If so, what size do you like better? I want to make sure I don't get a size no one wants...
Any advice would be great, thanks!
In Christ,
Dyzzi

I like the 1.5 cause there bigger and easier to see from a distance.

Ooooh, I'm getting a button maker too~

I like small buttons, actually, so I'm getting the 1.25' size. The really big ones are clunky and it's harder to find places to put them. I would avoid the 1" size, thought, because they don't have a pinback; the pin style that it uses doesn't work very well (all of my pins of that size break).

Just a question, what kinds of buttons are you making? I have some ideas too, I'm really excited.

Well at the moment all I really have are some chibis I've drawn of Full Moon, Death Note, and Kenshin characters. I'm not sure if I should do the faces only, or the whole bodies, but I won't really know for sure until I make the pics small enough to see what they'll look like. I just haven't done that yet. ^_^

I have a 1 inch button press... I've seen some people want bigger buttons and some people like the smaller buttons.. I guess it just depends really.

Also it's good to have a variety of buttons to sell I took around 36 different designs to my lastest con and did decent with them.

Whoa... 36 designs...

...if I want to sell buttons by the end of the month at A-Kon, I better get cracking...

Hey CK, how many physical buttons did you bring? I don't even know what range at all to produce...

Well I went to a realtively small con... about 1500-2000 people...so I only brought ten designs of each...

SURPRISINGLY I made a button that said "Yaoi? No Thx K Bai! ^0^/" and I SOLD OUT of those... O_o I even had to sell my display.

It also helps to make a board thing and place a disply button with a number and then put the buttons in little containers or baggies with the same corellating number.

o_O Whoaaaa, haha that's so hardcore to me. I'm going to a 14,000 con and I was thinking, "Oh, 100 buttons, that should be enough, right?" I might have to make more now *_*

SURPRISINGLY I made a button that said "Yaoi? No Thx K Bai! ^0^/" and I SOLD OUT of those... O_o I even had to sell my display.

14,000...yeaaahhh XD

For that...I'd say... maybe 30-50 of each design... oooorrr just the ones that you think would sell good

I posted my designs on DA to get feedback, maybe you could do the same...
