When I was a kid, I never knew the U.S. existed.
I used to think that shepherd's pie was actually made up of shepherd flesh.
The world was flat, and I thought my toys came alive when I left the room or slept. Especially that scary-face teddy named Monacox. I used to treat my toys like they were actually people. I think it was that movie Small Soldiers.

I used to believe lightening bugs contained lightening and if you smashed them they would shock you.

I had never seen a man shave, so when I watched my uncle shave with a safety razor I was very intrigued. He left the bathroom and I grabbed his razor to try it out. I shaved under my jaw and flicked the razor at the sink, but so no black flecks like I had seen when he had done it, so I tried again, pressing harder. Still no black flecks, my throat was hurting and I could see some blood, but still no black flecks, so I tried even harder. Well, my mom found me and freaked. She grabbed a mirror and held it under my jaw so I could see all the blood and told me not to do that again. She tells me my uncle was so mortified over the whole thing he didn't get over it for years. XD

i remember when i was younger, at my elementary school we had a sharp sloping hill that went down to this small baseball field that was surrounded by woods. and for some reason i thought that if i went down there, i would get attacked by wolves.

i had many dreams that backed this theory of mine up. XDDD

When I was very young, I refused to eat broccoli on the basis that it would turn me into a tree.

Also, I had an extreme fear of strangers. I would hide behind something if a car drove past our house when I was out front, or duck behind the grocery cart when we went shopping. I believe I thought they would turn me into something.

I used to walk around the house carrying a hand mirror pointed at the ceiling. I would use the ceiling as a reference to find my way around the house. I have no idea why.

I never believed in Santa Claus.

I thought that if you washed your hands in the dark, you would die. Man, that was strange.

And lastly, I would get upset when I was in a room and the light dimmed from the clouds covering the sun. For some reason, I thought it would turn my eyes blue.

My mom took me to a beach Florida when I was really little; she tried to get me to touch the water, but I wouldn't because I was afraid of sharks.

=/ I'm running out of good stories.

When I was younger, back when Nickelodeon actually had good programming, I was scared when the SNICK commercial came on TV saying they were going to "Take me away" (it was part of their ad campaign...they said something to the tune of "we're going to take you out of your house!")

When I was a kid (50s to 60s) most toys were made with metal including tricycles.
My brother and myself would ride down steep hills on sidewalks or the driveway which always had a street at the end but we manage to turn before we got close.
My brother split his toe when he got his foot between the front wheel and the tricycle fender trying to ride down the hill one night. It was a trip to the hospital for that in the family car.
Back then you didn't call for a ambulance like people do today. Where I lived (North Carolina)the funeral homes provided ambulance service before changes came in the 70s and the fire services or counties took over.
Washing machines had roller wingers to squeeze water out of clothes.
I got up on a chair stuck my fingers near the rollers and got pulled off the chair by the rollers. I got taken to the hospital by a ambulance driver from the funeral home who was sent by the family doctor. He took my mother, my brother and me in his own car
Things sure have changed.

Meep, my favorite color is blue, but I wouldn't want that kind of blue o.o;

For some reason I'm remembering my first bee sting :P It happened in Kindergarden music class. We were watching.. something. I forgot what it was XDD; Anyway, I was laying down and keeping myself up with my elbow ^^ I put my other arm down.. where a bee was O_O Didn't realize it was there until it stung ^^; Yeah, I must've really been into the show/movie xD;

I got sick after that, but I don't think I'm allergic ^^

One of my best friends has some of the awesomest childhood stories.

-In preschool, during naptime, the kid sleeping next to her was snoring too loudly that she couldn't sleep, so she grabbed some trash from the wastebasket and shoved it in his mouth to muffle the sound. When he woke up, he noticed it and freaked out, and the teacher demanded to know who did it, but my friend kept silent =D

-In elementary school, her class had to bring glue for some project. The glue they used was some kind of super-sticky Taiwanese glue or something, and she was curious how strong it was, so she dripped some on the floor and called one of her classmates to her desk to talk to him. The kid unwittingly stepped into the puddle, and my friend made a good effort to talk to him for a long time so that the glue would dry and he wouldn't notice. Finally, she finished the conversation, and he moved to leave, but he couldn't lift his foot up, so he cried out to the teacher, "Help! I can't move! My foot's stuck!"
