When I was a kid:

1. I wondered how traffic lights knew to change color and my dad told me there was a man who controlled them. So I thought that meant there was person within the light watching the cars, but because the traffic light was too small, I took that to mean the light was a lot bigger than it looked and it was some sort of optical illusion that made it look close and small when it had to be big and farther away. I would stare at lights we passed under trying to to understand the "illusion".

2. I thought there was an unusual number of tall men around. It wasn't for some time that I realized it wasn't the men were tall, it was that my basis for comparison, my dad, was short!

3. I thought all kids had their own rooms.

4. I had always heard that people should walk because it was good for the Earth. I took this to mean something about ones feet actually hitting the ground was good for the planet, as opposed to not driving, which was what it actually meant. I didn't know why stepping on the ground was good, but that was what they said, so that was what I did.

5. I thought the lyrics to Silent Night were "browned young virgin".

6. I thought mashed potatoes and Play-Doh were interchangeable.

7. Alright, this one is heavy duty. Due to the racially charged environment I was in and the negative things, true and untrue, I heard and was, sometimes unintentionally, taught, I thought all white people grew up to be racist. I thought it was just part of being white, like a biological fact you couldn't help. I made up my mind I was going to fight as long as possible because only bad people were racist and only one of friends was white and I didn't want to start hating my friends.

Oh my goodness! I totally forgot about that one! My older sisters got me to believe the whole gum, sticking to your ribs thing as well! They had a thing for gum that could kill you or leave permanent issues. Thankfully I chew gum without fear which was mostly brought on by sinister sisters. ;)

I too heard the "gum takes forever to digest" one.

My sister and I once made my brother believe we could see across the ocean to Australia from the balcony of the place we were staying at that holiday. My dad eventually came and ruined our fun.

I convinced my brother that I personally new the tooth fairy (we actually had a tandemuis [tande = teeth, muis = mouse]) and I would make up detailed stories of his life.

I've heard of a mother telling her son that the batteries of his trampoline were flat when it was getting late and he had to come in for dinner.

I told my four-year-old cousin that if she ate too many carrots she would turn orange. I also told her that she would turn into a sweet potato if she ate too many, XD.

People told me I was a boy when I little because I have black hair (but I don't have black hair, soooo yeah, XD).

After seeing The Parent Trap, I was convinced that I had a long lost twin.

When I was younger I thought that the phrase "objects are closer than they appear" in mirrors on cars, actually meant that the parts behind the mirror were closer than we thought, and we had to be careful when touching them because they might break.

1. I wondered how traffic lights knew to change color and my dad told me there was a man who controlled them.

Wow, me too! I also believed that closed captions were all typed by one person, all live, but then I realized that that wouldn't work because of all the different simultaneous channels. So then, I figured that each channel had its own closed caption typist.

When I was younger I thought that the phrase "objects are closer than they appear" in mirrors on cars, actually meant that the parts behind the mirror were closer than we thought, and we had to be careful when touching them because they might break.

I actually thought it was "objects are closer, then they appear," as in, an object will only appear in the mirror if it gets close enough (curse bad grammar!). That didn't make sense to me because I could see objects in the mirror, so I just assumed I had very special eyes.

My mom used to watch Spanish soap operas a lot when I was younger and when I watched them with her I thought that the people were really speaking English, but their voices were going through some kind of translation machine to make it Spanish.

Once, when I was watching cartoons, the T.V. went black for longer than usual during a transition and I thought the T.V. died. I was very sad and I called my dad upstairs to fix it, XDD.

I used to think that

-bleeding could be controlled by thinking about it ( i got in a bike accident when I was 7, and I made myself "stop" bleeding by thinking about it XD)

-Stuffed animals and barbie dolls could talk

-There was a ghost train that rode through my house every night at midnight to pick up the souls of the dead (chris de burgh much?)

-Dogs and animals actually controlled people

-There were Native Americans wearing feathers and deer skin that lived next door to me and they had a pool of alligators in their kitchen

-Demons and angels walked around on sidewalks, and if a person had a pretty looking house, angels would come inside, but if they had an ugly house, demons would come inside.

-Hiding my clothes and toys under my bed to make it look clean was by far the smartest idea I ever had XD

-Writing in red pen was the COOLEST thing I person could do. My dad bought me a red pen randomly one day, and I cried because I was so happy.

I think I liked how my mind used to work XDD

I used to think animal crackers were "alive" and simply pretended to be inanimate since they looked like animals (the influence of the Brave Little Toaster, I suppose), so when I ate them I would bite their heads off first so they wouldn't suffer and turn them over so didn't see it coming. I also ate the ones with missing limbs and such first to put them out of their misery.

Hmm...when I was a kid...

I used to think grilled cheese sandwiches were called girl cheeses. haha...they sound similar.

I was at El Pollo Loco one time getting food with my dad and my younger sister. My sister really had to use the bathroom and my dad told me to take her to the bathroom inside the store. I did what my dad told me to, but I also decided to tell my sister that the store was called El Pollo Loco because there was a crazy chicken in the bathroom...and she believed me. She never used the bathroom that day.

I also told my sister that cacti come to life at night and walk around in our backyard on their roots. That was my explanation for why she wasn't allowed to play outside at night. She believed me there too. Weird...

My cousin and I used to believe that there was an "upside down land." We would get on all fours and tilt our heads under our bodies so our chins were touching our chests and everything would look upside down. But I don't know why we thought it was another world...:shady:

Oh, one time, when I was like... 5... I asked my brother John why moths always fly towards lights, and he told me, "It's because they when they see it, they think it's the moon. And you see, the moon is where they come from, so they're just trying to get home."

Some how that reminded me of when I had to get braces and they stuck that gunky stuff in the mouth to get an impression of my teeth.Anyone else remember back when they stuck gunk in your mouth to make an impression of your teeth for your braces?
That was the nastiest tasting stuff because they kept in like forever before taking it out again.

Usually a very bad stomach ache.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
