That it is. You know, what really disgusted me about this article was this:

One relative told police that the girl's mother believed she "died because the devil is trying to stop Leilani from starting her own ministry," the complaint said.

Don't blame the "devil" for your inability to think. As a society, we fail to take accountability for our own mistakes. This is proof.

This reminds me of something I replied to yesterday u_u We all have a chose to do this or that. It's our choices that cause things to happen right? Either good or bad, right? Why do people say that anyway? Is the word devil use in a figurative way?

Yeah. . . I have to disagree with those Christian scientist-type people who think prayer is a substitute for the advances of medical science. A supplement, maybe. But not a substitute. XD

Randall Wormgoor, a friend of the Neumanns, told police that Dale Neumann led Bible studies at his business, Monkey Mo Coffee Shop, and believed physical illness was due to sin, curable by prayer and by asking for forgiveness from God, the complaint said.

This comment really concerns me. I get so irritated (and saddened) by people who come to me and say "Well, if you just had more faith, you wouldn't have cerebral palsy" or "Have you prayed for healing?" --as if living with CP meant something was wrong with my relationship with God.

That's like telling a diabetic not to take their insulin or a heart patient their aspirin.

I feel so badly for this girl. She would have survived and lived a full life being treated with insulin--but her parents were "too heavenly-minded to be any earthly good."

If these parents believe that health and sickness is all due to God and not at all to human action or intervention, then I guess tobacco, alcoholism, and drug abuse are all OK, as long as you pray about it :/

This is sickening. I hope they do get convicted, because they essentially killed their own daughter and deserve to be punished for such a thing. God gave us doctors for a reason.

Geez. If these people actually read their Bible they'd see Jesus debunked the idea that disease and disaster are punishments for sinning and a lack of these things is a sign of holiness personally.

More terribly... this isn't the first time it's happened. This is the third in the last 2 years and just the most recent in a long string of these events. I hope that the Court really takes this on and a definitive ruling is made, once and for all because its just outright torture and abuse (and the end result is at the least manslaughter if death results) that people do this to young children and babies. I also ponder as to how many people have been mamed or perminately disabled because they were denied simple medical care?

...I'm really not sure what to say. Things like this have disturbed me for a long time. Believing that God will take care of you is one thing, but these people... It brings out this rage inside of me that just screams "NO UR DOIN IT RONG."

Of course God will protect and provide, but that's no excuse to just decide to stand in front of a train coming straight at you. Even if you pray for Him to make the train stop, how much longer do you think you're gonna be standing there? About till' the train hits, right? Now, if someone had tied you to the tracks, God might in all His mercy stop the train from hitting you, of provide for you another way out. But if you're just standing on the tracks, waiting for something to happen, with every ability to run for safety or simply step out of the way, you're gonna end up a greasy smear on the tracks.

My apologies for any disturbing mental imagery associated with that, but seriously people. God provided us with the way out of this situation, and it's one of the simplest things out there: a quick trip to the doctor.

Now, I'm not saying that God can't cure diabetes. God created us, so he can do anything with us he wishes. Just, don't stand on those tracks waiting for something to shove you out of the way. MOVE.

If nothing else, they should have gotten that poor on insulin, and then prayed for her healing while she was stable. Good grief, people. u_u

I'll be praying for that family and anyone involved with that unfortunately stupid incident.
