When I Was A Kid..

Postby Tsukuyomi » Mon Apr 28, 2008 12:15 pm

I used to think ever house had a sack of rice laying in the corner of the room (or something like that) and that everyone ate rice ^^ I also thought that all housed required you to take off your shoes ^^

What.. I was only three or so when I made these deductions ^^

What strange things did you think up when you were a kid?

I used to think George Washing came right after Adam and Eve. I also had this urge to dress up as Batman when watching Batman the Animated Series when I was six.

I thought that when you went into a store, you absolutely had to buy something or else they wouldn't let you leave. I also thought that when the sun peaks through the clouds at around five in the evening, it was God bringing all the dead people to heaven.

Wow, I believed the same things the OP believed as a kid. Asian home, eh?

I thought the word "naked" began with the letter K.
I thought that my grandpa snored. I know now that it's my grandmother who snores.
When it thundered during a storm, we all thought that it was God bowling.

Not quite what did I believe, but when I was around 3-4 I used to pronounce things without an "s", like "quare" or "nake," etc. My parents thought I had a speech impediment, but I didn't. I just didn't feel like saying the "s."

Hm...let's see...

My dad pulled this little prank on me when I was about five and my brother was two or so. Once, when he had the video camera, he noticed the battery light come on, so he said, "Uh-oh, battery." I looked up at him with wide eyes. "Battery...battery...battery...OH NO, QUICK! Run to your rooms! Battery's going dead!" and I ran off to my room. My brother followed just because I was running. You see, I was under the impression (from what my dad said) that when the battery goes dead, it explodes. Made me wonder why he didn't throw the camera to avoid getting injured...

There's more (and plenty that my brother thought about the world), but I'll write it later.

When I was a kid I never thought I'd grow up...oh! the irony! XD

I also thought that if I didn't fall right to sleep on Christmas Eve night I wouldn't get any presents from Santa. Ever since hearing the lyrics in the song Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, "He knows when you've been sleeping. He knows when you're awake".... I wouldn't even get up to pee.

I also believed the tried and true if you swallow a watermelon seed you'd grow a watermelon inside your stomach.

Also, my sister got me to believe that if you swallow your gum whole it'll take 7 years to digest.

She also got me to believe that you could eat the wrapper for Cinnaburst gum.

Now, I realize after digesting 100 Cinnaburst wrappers that it's not wise to chew any gum wrappers of any kind and no, it does not take 7 years to digest swallowed gum.

She was evile back than! :D

And I can't think of any others at this moment.

I used to believe that a woman HAD to go to the doctor if she wanted to have a baby. The doctor would cut open her stomach and give her treatments to make her pregnant. I guess the man never factored into the equation.

I used to think that, once you were in high school, you could get pregnant just by being around the opposite sex. XD

I also thought that all women were right-handed, and all men were left-handed. This was because my mom and I used our right hands, and my dad and brother used their left hands. XD

Because of something my dad said once, I thought that the stalks on broccoli were poisonous.

When I went to Disney World for the first time (I was 7), I thought they called it "The Magic Kingdom" because the faucets in the bathroom were the automatic kind that turn on when you put your hands underneath. XD

LOL

this one time, I thought I could fly and jumped off my parent's dresser... I knocked out my two front teeth..

I also thought that the thunderstomr was God bowling, and the Sun was his reading lamp XD

I thought that when I grew up, I could become anything I wanted to be, even a unicorn or a dragon.

My sisters and I would crawl on our hands and knees and pretend to be animals and make dens out of tables and chairs XD.

We had quite a few story lines going.

When I was a kid I ate four dozen eggs
Ev'ry morning to help me get large
And now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs
So I'm roughly the size of a barge

[Chorus:] No one shoots like Gaston
Makes those beauts like Gaston
[LeFou:] Then goes tromping around wearing boots like Gaston
[Gaston:] I use antlers in all of my decorating
[Chorus:] Say it again
Who's a man among men?
And then say it once more
Who's the hero next door?
Who's a super success?
Don't you know? Can't you guess?
Ask his fans and his five hangers-on
There's just one guy in town who's got all of it down
[LeFou:] And his name's G-A-S- T -
G-A-S-T - E -
G-A-S-T-O - oh!
[Chorus:] Gaston

I have a birthmark on my knee and my mom used to tell me that a roach bit me and made the mark. And I believed her.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I used to think that this plant I had, that whenever I said a certain phrase it would make money....because everytime I said the phrase, I'd run to the plant and there would be money!
I called it the money plant and was devastated when my grandma took it.
When my brother was little he thought my grandma actually had a dinosaur for a pet XDDD

Me too. :D

I thought that God was female for a while as a very young child. I also believed that your stomach was down low where your intestines are, and that when a woman had a baby, they always had to cut it out of her like a c-section.

The simplest way that I can understand therapy is that we're born a certain way, we're taught to be something different, and we spend our whole lives trying to unravel it and ultimately align ourselves with who we really are. Life, experiences, traumas -- whatever -- they all add up to make you some altered version of what you are. So there's this battle that goes on between what you are and what you become, and it's been very important for me to unravel what I was taught to be or what I became. and to draw a direct parallel to music -- the closer I get back to being who I really am, the stronger the music gets..." --Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins frontman)

I used to put oatmeal in one of my mother's VCRs.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

When I was little I used to play with my sisters and friends and we would pretend to be animals, we got on our all fours and crawled around making noises and only talking to each other.

Also I would make a den for myself out of the cushions from our couch along side the couch. (I still like those dens... I wish I had one of my own XD )

When I was little I was under the impression that cats didn't like their ears being touched.

I also though that Darth Vader was kinda cool because even though he was evil he still cared about his son. And that Yoda was a bad guy ROFL!

Oh yes and I thought that a none fertilized egg could still be hatched.

You got off easy...my cousins said that the gum would stick to my ribs and I would die.

I was also frequently terrified by the above mentioned cousins telling me that the police were coming to arrest me. Now, I can use that same joke against them, because some of them have had run-ins with the law!

One time, I was in this store with my mom, and I was playing with this calculator on display, and I couldn't turn it off. I thought Vietnam was a place where countries sent their soldiers to fight each other. I suppose that was true in a way, but I thought that was literally the purpose of the place.

I also thought I would catch more fish if I sang to them. No idea where the idea came from, but I was certain it was working, so I kept singing.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

When I was four? I wanted my parents to adopt one of those kids from Africa on the television so I would have someone to be Winston Zedmore when I played Ghostbusters.
