Cool Idea? Hmmm...

Postby Kunoichi » Fri Apr 25, 2008 7:58 am

Okay, I had an idea that's been kinda plaguing me but I wasn't sure what people thought about it..

I love writing novels and stories and I find other people's lives just as fascinating as a novel...so i was kinda working on an idea that might be interesting to try...

I was kinda take someone's life ( a real person no matter how old) and turn it into a novel/ story. Not like an autobiography really...cuz how those are written is too factual and date orientated but just a story or novel of the person from a third person or first person perspective.

I was just thinking it would be kinda cool to do that and if they even wanted to make it seem like a fiction (Like pick their own time era where I could add in characters and such)...I don't know I'm writing it and now seems kinda stupid. lol I don't know..thoughts would be appreciated!

Like historical fiction? Anyway, this would be better suited for the Writing forum.

That's actually a very great idea....A while back, when I was taking a fiction writing class, I actually tried something similar....Though, now that I think about it, it was more of a thing where I based my characters on my friends and their personalities and had them all go on a nation wide LOTR style quest......How very fun it was....

I think the only thing that u have to worry about is the ppl in real life who ur writing about in fiction....Always good to be carefull going about it....or better yet, just don't tell them about it and have them find out later....or not.....

Happy Writing....

I do hope you're not being serious with this one.

Sounds like a very cool idea! I agree with Raiden, though. If you're basing writing on someone in an obvious way, don't make the mistake of not telling them about it. If it turns out they don't want their lives etc. put down on paper you'll either lose all your work or damage your relationship with that person... maybe both. If you're just basing characters of real people's personalities and there's no solid connection, that's one thing, but if you plan on keeping any names or personal experiences the same, you had better have the blessing of the person who's life you are using. Besides, there's even a good chance they'll want to collaborate with you on it, and that could be really fun! Good luck with the project! ^-^

Well my whole thought was to the story to be about them! They would give me the basic information *personality, historical (birth place etc).

I think Oprah did something like this-- find random people in the country, do a narrative video bio on their lives.
