Happy 10th anniversary Cowboy Bebop!

Postby Roy Mustang » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:36 pm

On this day April 3rd 1998, an aborted first run of 12 episodes ( ep 2, ep 3, ep 7 thru 15 and ep 18) of Cowboy Bebop aired on TV Tokyo. But the series almost didn't air at all on Japanese broadcast television due to its depictions of violence.

It wasn't untill October 23, that all of the eps of Cowboy Bebop aired on the Japanese satellite WOWOW.

There is not a day that I still love Cowboy Bebop. With all those homage, from Star Trek, Lupin III, Bruce Lee, Babe Ruth, Aliens the movie, Beverly Hills, 90210 (no, I'm not joking about this one), Spaghetti Western, names of music songs and albums.

So, Thank you for the memories. May Spike, Faye, Jet, Julia, Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV, Lin and Shin, Bull and Vicious and the rest of the gang from Earth, Venus, Mars and Titan live in our hearts and memories forever!

Whoo-hoo!! Happy 10th, Bebop! Ten years old and still seen as the flagship of all anime!

I think I'll have a Bebop marathon this weekend--grab some Kansai Oven Roasted Peas and kiwi gummies from FYE (Believe me, it's delicious!) and remind myself just why I love anime.

Few people tend to know Cowboy Bebop was incredibly more popular in America than it was in Japan, where it was decently received but not the big deal it would be State-side.

First time I saw Bebop was a few years ago. If memory serves me right, I was in the 10th Grade. It was when Adult Swim only aired anime at night. It was right after Yu Yu Hakusho's first episode, and it was my first "real" anime. (Up until that point, Pokemon, Digimon, and Monster Rancher were my staples)

I remember thinking "Whoa...this has GOT to be a movie or something!" It was Cowboy Bebop's first episode "Asteroid Blues". The animation, the story, even the music, knocked my freaking socks off!

Holy crapola has it been ten years already :wow!:!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Aw man sorry 'bout that sudden reaction :hits_self! It's just.....WOW! I just will never believe that '98 was already ten years ago and Cowboy Bebop is now officially ten years old :wow!:!!! Now the first time I saw a bit of it was 2002, but I think I heard about it a year or two after it's release in a magazine. Heck I can never forget how new it was back then and will never forget! It still never ceases that the late eighties and early nineties seem like yesterday to me and they only keep drifting further and further away :(. Time is just going by way too fast :bang:.

Either way Happy 10th Anniversary Cowboy Bebop :D. I'm so happy I bought the whole anime series on DVD when I could ;).

I still haven't gotten to see it, unfortunately. I really want to though --especially after hearing so many good things about it. I'll see if I can find a way to rent it...
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Maybe it's one of those series you have to have seen it at the time to appreciate it. I tried watching it when it was back on AS a couple of months back, and it didn't hold my attention. It wasn't bad, just kind of boring to me. Maybe if I saw it ten years ago I'd love it. *shrug*

Cowboy Bebop was what turned me on to Yoko Kanno and J-pop. For that reason, I shall forever be thankful.

Happy 10th Birthday Cowboy Bebop! I only saw this series this year so it's really all new to me but I thoroughly enjoyed it! May the series still be as popular another 10 years from now.

Whenever I get a chance to see it... i always end up seeing the last...or next to last(?) episode. =_= all I know is I've seen one episode..and that's it. So I don't know much about it. But any series that can stay popular so long, congrats to.
