Anime Character Identification

Postby RidleyofZebes » Thu Apr 03, 2008 8:16 pm

Hey, guys.
I found this image a little while ago. It's actually one of Dom's Rant avatars from MegaTokyo. I have no clue who this is, or what's happening. I was hoping that maybe someone more fortunate in their range of anime viewing could identify it for me and/or tell me what's going on.
I know it seems a little odd, but I took a fancy to the picture and just wanted to know more.

(If I put this in the wrong forum, could I get a mod to move it? I wasn't sure if it went here, Anime or somwehere else. )

To me that looks like Taishi from Comic Party. He's one crazy funny guy if I do say so myself. I liked Comic Party, but not so much CP Revolution for its massive amount of fanservice. But thats my opinion, there's already a thread on this by the way.
Couldn't this be him?(The one on the right.)

I tried to find a picture of just Taishi, but no dice. So you'll have to deal with this one. The picture you have of Taishi is probably from Revolution.

Right on! :thumb: Thanxsomuch, animedude90!

A quick Google image search on his name resulted in several pictures similar to the one in my first post. This is awesome guy.

*adds Comic Party to list of must-see animes*

Hmmm... I'm kinda' reluctant to throw this thread away so quickly, so I think I'll ask a question.

I was talking with some friends awhile back and they mentioned something about an "anime aisle" in BestBuy. I've been in BestBuy like, once, and that was SEVERAL years ago. Is this "Anime Aisle" indeed fact, or a clever ruse!? If so, what's their selection like?

...And would they happen to carry Comic Party?

I browse my Best Buy's anime selection from time to time; yes, they do have an aisle dedicated to anime. However, my particular Best Buy's selection is fairly limited, and I rarely find what I'm looking for, though most of it simply doesn't interest me. I'm sure that varies from store to store, though, so I would definitely check it out. Yours may or may not carry copies of Comic Party, but I vaguely remember seeing copies at my store at some point, so it's definitely possible. XD

Yes, there is an aisle dedicated to anime at Best Buy, but as Radical Dreamer said it is indeed limited. BB usually caries the most popular anime like Death Note, Naruto, Fruits Basket, FMA, FMP, Cowboy Bebop, DBZ, and others. Im not saying its the best collection, but when your desparate for anime, begers can't be choosers. Ofcourse you could always just order what anime you want from the Best Buy website, Ive done that for Case Closed. If you have the money and patience your best bet would be to go to the website and order what you want(for those hard to find anime. If you can find the anime you want at BB then buy it there, then there's no sense in ordering it.). (Or you could use any other anime selling website.)

So for the original Comic Party series, not Revolution(Unless you want Revolution.), order it off the BB website because I seriously doubt they have them still out at the store. But who knows they just might.

It ain't just yours, Corrie. Best Buy has a pretty nice selection, if not tragically limited. And it is slightly cheaper than at most retailers. Don't get me started with the sky-high prices at FYE...Grrr...

Oh yeah, worthless trivia--"Comic Party" was originally licenced and dubbed by The Right Stuf International while it's sequal, "Comic Party Revolution" was dubbed by the Microsoft of anime dubbing companies, ADVision. For the ADV dub, the voices were completely changed.

@ KBS- The more you know. (That was a little line one would say after hearing something very interesting that one never knew before. If your still clueless on this line just watch the episode of family guy where they go to that Indian Casino.)

FYE does have stinkingly high prices. What you can get for 30$ at FYE, you can get for 20$ at BB.

Yeah I did notice that Comic Party was right stuff, and that Revolution was ADV.
