Marriage Talks and Races relations

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Angel37 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 5:42 pm

I am going to bypass every race and stereotype thing here and go to the heart of the matter:

What does the Bible say about the type of woman that is honourable to marry? I'd say the last chapter of Proverbs and talks of marriage and authority in Paul's letters will definitely be some of the few places you can find out. Seek after that type of woman and if she's Asian, white, or whatever, marry her once you find her. Forget your parents. Honour them, but take God's advice over theirs. Your concern shouldn't be her skin colour but her character and leave the rest up to God because you never know: she may be the only white girl your parents ever like or she may turn out to be Asian! Tell your parents you are following God even if He leads you to bachlorhood. Even if they argue with you, you must follow God and He does spell out what type of woman should be desired. Hope that helped. Love you Dan! <3

I don't think God would lead someone to be a bachelor for life if he placed the desire for a wife on his heart.
If he were to be a bachelor for life, he wouldn't mind whether or not he were married.

Huh.

I find this thread interesting in general since I am a child of an interracial marriage. My mother being Chinese (raised in Taiwan) and my father being a white American. If you check my posts in history, you will see that I have thanked God for blessing me with such wonderful parents who have a wonderful marriage that they keep up to nearly ideal levels.

That said, my parents' families rarely gave any meaningful support mostly due to some religious bigotry on my father's side, and a lot of racial bigotry on my mother's side. I mean, really, sometimes I honestly wondered whether they recognized their marriage. And the lack of respect and the amount of crap I heard from my mother's relatives... all because his eyes/hair were not dark and his skin was slightly lighter.... I am just getting enraged just thinking about it.

And frankly, I am getting more enraged by the comments here trying to tone down the severity of such remarks of "generalization." We are Christians first, member of whatever-ethnicity-that-will-change-over-the-course-of-time second. Our reference point is God... Christ Himself. Before him, every one is equal. These "questionable remarks" are about people thinking that others are inherently and morally inferior to them due to genetics. That is wrong, and that is sinful! No one has the moral right to make such a judgment in front of Him! It is the mark of pride (the bad kind), where one looks down on others... and one cannot look down and still look up at the same time to God in reverence and worship.

I mean, really, if I were to take the logical conclusion of the "cultural" attitudes of some of my relatives, it would mean my birth... I would be considered a freaking abomination of nature.

...

At least, if anything, my parents' marriage resilience and growth is a testament to the glory of God and those who fully trust His Word, submit to Him, and do not tolerate or yield to the lies of the world even if they come off as "words of wisdom" from their parents.

Yahshua, when you consider marriage, remember one thing. Ultimately, you will be taking up the role of the husband and maybe the father as well, the spiritual leader of the family. So you must consider your duties from that perspective. While it would be nice to have your parents' feel good about you, frankly, that is optional, especially when it comes to doing the right thing. Why? I would say, "Go ask my parents."

...

I think I am going to lose it soon. I want to smash the monitor with my fist. I will be back on CAA when I cooled off.

My dear friend,
Don't give up on trying to find the special person either Asian, Black, or even White. I know the your parents are traditionalist but try to see both sides of the coin. If you can find someone who can love you for you not because you are Asian and with a Christian heart and can get along with you and your parents. Thats a start, but understand that you have the decision on who you want to spent the rest of your life with. Your parents should support and encourage you along the way, not try to sway you from someone who could be your soulmate.

Daniel, it took almost 4 yrs for SP1 to ask my father for my hand in marriage. When we were first started dating we were together for 3 months then he was shipped out for 3 months and he thought I wouldn't be there when he got back, boy was he surprised. Always ask my dad advise and my grandmother (my Dad's mom) too. My dad and SP1 get along just great because I was able have them meet each other so that they can get to know each other. Even though it took almost 4 yrs for him to ask, we have been married for almost 17 yrs. We are total opposites in personalities, He didn't have a Church so I brought him to mine. And his mother wanted him to marry a College educated girl, it took me awhile but I got my degree.(HEHEHEHEHE)

Don't give up on any type relationship with anyone.....who know maybe the soulmate you are looking for could be white, black, asain or maybe a MARTIAN who knows. (hehehe)

If you need any advise folow you r heart and you gut feelings it maight lead you to the one you are looking for.

What I believe is what I will become. I believe I am special and that there will never be another like me...not ever. I believe I have been blessed with certain talents that will allow me to serve a purpose higher that my own. I believe we are all connected and that despite our differences we are one. I believe in the power or love and its ability to heal all wounds. I believe there are no acts of coincidence only acts of God that work miraculously in my life. I believe that the lessons I learn will be the lessons I teach.

Yup, this really is an Anime forum, isn't it?
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May He cause His face to shine upon you.
May He lift up His countenance and grant you peace.

Maokun: Ninjas or Pirates? (Vikings are not a valid answer, sorry)

EricTheFred: Vikings are always a valid answer.

We can't forget robots, supernatural beings, scientifically-created bioweapons, catgirls, and the rest. I mean, goodness, we should be the most open-minded of all, right? ^_~

Eh no thank you Raiden I have no intention of getting on with a robots and other things. J/k.

As for my personal observation it seen to be much easier for an Asian American female to married to other "races" then for an Asian American Male.

Well man, I happen to have a rich multi ethnic bac kround , that I'm very proud of. I really don't see any problem with marrying somebody of a different race . As long as God is in the marriage and you truly love the woman(in your case), everything works out just fine. I said this before, but I myself am waiting on God for the right woman to come along regardless of her race or how long it takes.
People who look down on interracial marriages are sad indeed and being led by Satan. God Bless and Godspeed man.
Some of my favorite scriptures.

Psalm91
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Hebrews 4-4
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

James 4
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Dan, I would say test your thought and your parents with the light of Christ. One thing I'm learning is marriage is in God's hands. Seek his will.
Tis No Fool to lose what he can not keep to gain what he can never lose.
What does it profit a man to gain the World yet lose his soul.
Choose Life that you Might live.
