Commercials that make you go ...wut?!?

Talk about anything in here.

My mind immediatly thought of that Life Water commercial with the lizzards dancing to "Thriller".

The commercial was for a sleep aid (Lunesta, I think). The advertiser was speaking seriously and rattled off something like, "Talk to your doctor if you walk, drive, eat, or perform other activities while asleep."

We both kinda started, then looked at each other. DRIVE while ASLEEP?!?

ROFL!!! that is hilarious!!

There aren't too many that usually make me think "What??!?". There is the occasional ad that makes me think "What on earth is it actually trying to advertise??", then they reveal it in the last 5 seconds, and I still think it was totally irrelevant...

*nods* I've seen commercials like that too..it just seems totally irrelevant to what they are advertising :P

btw Kit-chan that nascar thing was greeeat!

I hope no one beat me to it-- the "Head On" commercials. "Head on, apply directly to the forehead. Head on, apply directly to the forehead." Um, it's called "Head-on". Where else am I supposed to put it?

Then there was this local commercial with this obnoxious lady singing an obnoxious song over and over and over and over for some Toyota dealership.

OH--then there's those "Appliance Direct" commercials. "See it all--AND SAVE!" "APPLIANCE DIRECT!" "If you didn't buy direct, [size=134]YOU PAID TOO MUCH!"

ShiroiHikari wrote:Also, I saw that screamer car commercial on Youtube. Scared the ever-loving crap out of me.

My friend showed it to me (he ran out of the room before that part). That was....interesting.

What's annoying are those commercials that come up FULL BLAST.

Ok, my ranting is over.

Most of the commercials that make me go "wut!?" are some from my childhood like;

http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/724/

http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/5418/

http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/1514/

I remember the pizza hut pizza head ><.

http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/2152/

I always thought Ronald McDonald was alittle weird XD.

I also remember hearing this one commercial recently that was advertising medication to help prevent prostate cancer and I remember it saying something like "women should not take it!" I was like "okay why would women take something that's obviously for men 0__o?". lol

Wait a minute here...

As someone who has to take these, I was concerned when I first heard about this and asked my doctor. Here's the scoop (at least the theory she subscribes to):

Basically, there is a category of depression patients so severe they literally can't even move themselves to suicide. It is these who appear to be the ones likely to go this route when the medicine gets them far enough out of their funk to have the will to go through with it, before it helps them past that point into more normal behavior.

If it wasn't so sad, it would be ironic, I guess. Anyhow, teenagers seem to be the most susceptible to this, and that's why the statistics have centered mostly on kids.

Gah! Still freaks me out even after all this time! The scary thing is, they still make these commercials, but they're not quite as hypnotic. Just when it gets started, the picture freezes and someone comes out saying "Head-On, I can't stand your commercials, but your product is amazing!"

I also saw the recent Celebrex commercial on TV, and the entire time, I was wondering if they were trying to warn the consumer about something or were they trying to sell the consumer something. Though the text outlines were pretty cool, I have to say.

I think that's the one where they are really trying to make sure you know Celebrex isn't the only one with the problem. Thanks to most news stories mentioning only Celebrex specifically, people have gotten the mis-message that the competing brands don't have the same problem. Listen carefully next time you see it, and you will understand what I mean.

Ah. Okay. I'll try it. I probably would get the point more if the commercial wasn't so long. Was it just me, or did it seem like it went on longer than normal?

Oh, don't forget those Mirapex and Requip ads. Restless leg syndrome...give me a break. And the side effects are disturbing. "Increased gambling urges"? Whoa.

This is the Mirapex one. It creeps me out too.

Needless to say, I've since come to the conclusion that half the people who drive in my current town must be taking Lunesta, but that is not my point.

The Berries and Cream Starburst commercial was weird. Also, the Skittles commercials can be quite surreal. One features a human piñata and another one shows a man who turns everything he touches into Skittles. It's kind of sad because he says that he can't even hold his newborn baby because of his condition. Quite sad for a candy commercial.

Actually I disagree, I think that the Berries and Cream commercial is hillarious. And I also think the skittles are as well. I remember the bunny skittle commercial, where the bunny does not stop singing.

Now the Burger King commercials are sometimes disturbing. Like the "Wake up with the king" commericial Or that "Double-crisp, bacon cheader ranch" commercial. That one was a while back.

The King is scary! Oh, and I think that the Berries and Cream commercial is funny, but the song can get annoying if it's replayed too much.

However, the one where the guy touches things and turns them into skittles is just odd for some reason. I don't like to take commercials too seriously, but think about what it would be like to turn everything you touch into candy! lol.
