To me I define the boy scouts as a roudy bunch of street gangs! I'm a boy scout and proud to be! How many of you are loud and proud to be boy scouts?

I used to do Boy Scouts before High School. I really enjoyed it, but I only made it to first class. Then sports kind of got in the way. Also a lot of kids who were in my troop started doing drugs and stuff. It was like our camping trips were excuses for them to go into the woods and smoke weed. What a bunch of tools. But needless to say, they made my desision to focus on sports a little easier.^^
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Piffle, what about men??? ;)

Second Class myself before I, um, washed out  , although my uncle put both my father and myself to shame (he's an Eagle Scout).

Very loud, very proud. BSA!

Final Rank: Eagle Scout

Current Job: soon to be ASM (when I find a troop)

Trivia: Every one of my uncles on my dads side, and my dad were Eagles. My cousin is an eagle and we hope that my other two young guy cousins will reach the rank as well... but that wont be for a while.

Both of my parents were involved in Scouting/Guiding as leaders. And of course me and my siblings were enrolled as well. My oldest brother was more active than I was; he even managed to get the Duke of Edinburgh award (and also a Knight of Tamara). I liked some of it, but was not as enthusiastic. I did well enough of course.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

Go for it!
2 Questions...
What merit badges do you have left to do?
Have you started to look for a project?

I was a Boy Scout from the time I was 17 til I turned 18. Never bothered with merit badges, since I would only be there a year.
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.
In all life, thou livest, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree
And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.
