Hmmmm.... my state's cheap, so the auto cams. here are only on the highway.

I've only ran a few reds on some back roads. I never really speed at all or run red lights, I try to be careful. Though, it is annoying driving a stick another the city with those slug slow lights. -_-

I always err on the side of caution. If I can make it at my current speed I'll go, but I won't speed up to make it through a yellow.

To the best of my knowledge the speed limit in the express lane is the same as the rest of the highway, it's just there to relieve traffic and encourage carpooling.

I run red lights too often; though I know where all the automated camera lights are in my area, so I know which ones NOT to run.

Express lanes ARE the exact same speed as the others.

Also, if you have a *insert highway* Business Loop, that will most of the time have the same speed limit as the highway/freeway. Most people don't know that surprisingly. There's a business loop that cuts through my town that has no speed limit sign whatsoever. The limit is 65 since that's the freeway limit. Everyone's going like 40, and there's me whipping by them at 65. I can't get pulled over for speeding. Reckless driving maybe, but not speeding :-D

still I'm just hoping there weren't any Automated Cameras that take pics of people who run reds...
Heh, maybe my area is just poor, or maybe I'm a naive girl who can't drive, but I've never even heard of such a thing. :lol:
My dad has run reds before, and he just acts like it never happened. <.<;;;
I think its sweet, though, that it bothered you. ^^;;

My town only has three stoplights, and all of them have cameras. Like CDLviking, I usually err on the side of caution and stop if the light us yellow, unless I know I can make it through before it turns red. I look at it this way: I am alert while driving, but the people in the other lanes might not be, so why take a chance?

Right. You can be the safest driver in the world, but all it takes is some other nut to cause an accident.

On a side note... the town I'm in now doesn't even have stop lights. At least the streets are paved though.

"Speeding" through a red light isn't as bad as driving through a red light at 5 mph, and then you're friends go talk about it loudly in front of a policeman later that night, with you standing nearby and trying to warn them there's a cop around. (My friend's experience, not mine...poor guy was beating himself the rest of the night while we all laughed at him.)

I've ran a couple red lights that I remember. Once when it was really late and there wasn't a car in sight (I'm pretty sure that Bangor, ME doesn't use the cameras - where are they positioned so I can check next time?). The other time I was simply not paying attention. I felt really bad after that, because I really could have hurt someone.

I try to stop on yellow lights, when possible, though I've run two red lights that I can remember. The first one, I was speeding down the loop, and as I came up to the light, I realized that the cars to the right of me were stopped, and the light was red. Oh, my. Obviously, I mashed the brakes, but by the time that I stopped, I was more than half-way through the intersection.

That scared me spitless.

Recently, I was driving home and turned left just as the light became red. The lights in my town have a three second delay between my red and your green, and I took advantage of that.

On another topic, I was driving the other day and saw someone turn left from the center lane of a one-way street. Ordinarily, I would have just said, "That was bad," but I laughed instead. Their right blinker was on.

I will say this though, Gypsy--having been in your car during a red light...Maine really needs to reconsider the length of those stupid lights! We waited how long? I think Aaron was about to explode and go kamikaze on that stoplight or something.

Yeah, fear of getting a ticket isn't the only reason not to run red lights. My sister was killed by someone running a red light.

Please be careful, everybody.

I've ran only two lights that I can remember and those were because of bad judgement on when the light was going to turn red-- at night at that, I think. There are a few stop lights around here (heavily trafficed areas mainly) that have cameras and a few of those move from intersection to intersecton.

Don't worry about it. Running red lights on accident has happened to me a few times. I've never gotten any kind of traffic ticket. I'm just glad you didn't get in an accident! There's something to praise God for right there!

Considering the idiot drivers in (REDACTED), I wouldn't be surprised if running a red light is a common practice.

Fortunately, for those law-unabiding idiots, all the red-light cams in my town are a big enough deal to make the news. We have three of them.

I was surprised that in Kentucky, they acutally follow the speed limit even on the freeway. And it's disappointingly low.

As for me... uh... no... ain't never ran a red light. Please ignore the man behind the curtain.
