Top 10 Animal Kingdom

Postby rocklobster » Sun Feb 24, 2008 4:52 am

Let's list our favorite animals! Here's my top 10:
10: Lions--how can anyone not like them! Besides, I'm a Narnia fan, so I have to like them.
9: Orangutans--their intelligence level is similar to humans, and they're not that different either.
8: Wolves--without wolves, we wouldn't have dogs.
7: Chimpanzees--same reason as the orangutan
6: Dragonflies--the only insect I can stand, because they eat mosquitoes.
5: White Tigers--they're so rare, and I love those stripes.
4: Elephants--I grew up on Babar, what can I say?
3: Dogs--no particular breed here. I like dogs because they just seem like the perfect companion for humans. It's almost like God made them with humans in mind.
2: Dolphins--the jester of the ocean. They always look like they're having so much fun, especially with that comical smile.
1: Platypus--the strangest animal on earth. It's a mammal that lays eggs. It has a duck's bill, but it doesn't have any other bird traits. And strangest of all--it has venom in its toes! What was God thinking when He created this thing?
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."
--Jeremiah 1:5

1. Platypus: a fascinating mammal and one of only two species of monotreme still living. It forms a remarkable link with the early history of mammals.

2. Dunkleostus- a truly scary looking armoured fish that lived over 360 million years ago.

3. Muskox- they just look cool.

4. Nubian Ibex- impressively curved horns, and they look cool.

5. Tigers- I like these more than lions and they also live in Siberia.

6. Chimpanzees- Interesting, intelligent creatures and our closest living relatives.

7. wolverines

8. Gorgonospids- These were tank-like predators of the mid-permian (over 250 million years ago), and were part of the so-called "mammal-like reptiles" that dominated the period.

9. Racoons- They're clever and annoying, but their ability to adapt to urban environments is very interesting.

10. Chambered Nautalis- A cool looking creature, and the only shelled cephalapod to have survived to the present day.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge

Pandas are awesome. So is the Cloverfield monster.

Llamas are pretty cool, too.

Oooh this one will be easy for me :D!

10.Tarantulas. Cool, scary but cute, and fuzzy wuzzies <3.

9.Parakeets-cute little buggers ;)

8.Rats

7.Squirrells (I'm a Foamy the Squirrell/Neurotically Yours fan which is a guilty pleasure of mine XD)

6.Horses

5.Pigs (just small ones). I am the year of the boar and in China the animal means good luck. Plus it's so hard to resist the cuteness of P-chan in Ranma 1/2 ^.^.

4.Bats. Cute yet dark looking. Plus I always thought vampires were cool .

3.Lizards and Iguinas. I always thought they looked cool.

2.Dogs (preferably pugs, collies, or pomeranians ^.^). I just grew up with them.

1.Cats ! I've just loved them for forever ^.^! I prefer the domestic cat, but I love all big cats too (from lions to tigers to jaguars to panthers to leopards etc). I'm just feline crazy ^.^! Been my favorite animal since birth.
