Searching for Bible Verses

Postby wiggins » Wed Mar 24, 2004 8:20 am

Hi guys!
I'm trying to find a Bible verse or more that basically says "don't worry, God is in control of everything", or just "God is in control" I know there is that beatitude where Jesus talks about not worrying about clothes for tomorrow, and what food we're going to eat, but I'm looking for one more event orientated. Thanks!

Wiggins

P.S. To the Admins/ Mods: If this thread is in the wrong spot, I'm sorry. Please don't ban me and please tell me where posts like this go so I know and can post there should I ever want to post a similar thread. Thanks!

Wait, hmmm, I know where you can find this!!!............Eh? *thinking intensly*
Ok, I cant think of it right now....*still thinking*....This is going to drive me crazy.
Sorry, I will have to get back to you.....
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

If it helps, Matthew 6:25-34 is the passage that tells us not to worry; maybe you can find some cross-references from there. ^_^

Yes, indeed, I was way off in left field with my thinking.

Thanks for the clarity MM. ^^

There is a verse in Jeremiah that might help: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).

John 19:10-11 may also be what you are seeking:

"Do you refuse to speak to me?' Pilate said. 'Don't you realize that I have power either to free you or to crucify you?' Jesus answered, 'You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."

I think that is pretty straightforward. :)

hey wiggins i have a few verses here that might be of use to you...

Philippians 4:6-7, TLB. "Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank Him for His answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:19, NIV. "And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

Luke 12:25-26, TLB. "And besides, what's the use of worrying? What good does it do? Will it add a single day to your life? Of course not! And if worry can't even do such little things as that, what's the use of worrying over bigger things?"

Luke 18:27, NIV. "Jesus replied, 'What is impossible with men is possible with God.'"

I Peter 5:7, TLB. "Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you."

hope these help u in some way :)
Jeremiah 29:11, TLB. "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

I asked Jesus how much he loved me and he said this much...and he stretched out his hands and died for me.

Thanks all!
I think I should clarify the situation, not to say that what you have suggested isn't helpful. I an hoping to find a better verse or group of verses if I can, but if I can't I'll have to take what you've suggested and see what I can derive from it and which fits the situation I'm about to tell you about best. OK, I'm writing a Christian manga I want to make. Basically so as not to give too much away a guy has to tell a close friend something that he fears will make his friend feel betrayed by him or alienate his friend. His fears cause him to hesitate alot. The current idea, is that in his Bible reading he finds a verse that pretty much tells him "Don't worry. God is in control. Leave everything in His hands, and everything will be fine." Alternatively he could also go off to some Christian conference and meet someone there or have a speaker at a Christian conference he goes to give a speech based on the verse I am trying to find, which he hears and is impacted by, or he could meet some kind Christian who notices he is troubled and help him out, and that kind person could be the aforementioned speaker and the speech could tie things up and help him make his decision, or the kind Christian could simply be a normal person or a great famous evengelist of someone but he doesn't know whow the kind Christian helping him out is until later...so many possiblities. I am sure there are more... So that's the basic idea, and regardless of which path I choose to lead the story down, I need that scripture verse. I do read the Bible and it does impact me, but I haven't finish reading the entire Bible (One of the things I am working towards), and you guys may be able to find it better than I can. O and another possibility is that he can read a Bible Devotional, or something akin to "Daily Bread", and find there the verse and an cool writing/ story/ writing with story that helps to drive the verse home and helps him to make up his mind. So many possibilities... all of which require that verse. Please help me out thanks!
