Apparently, the producers/writers released information on who would be getting off of the Island a couple of months back, noting them as "six plus one" getting off the Island.. They are as follows:
Jack, Kate, and Hurley, obviously, along with Sayid, Sun, and Jin. The "plus one" is obviously Sun and Jin's child, which I assume will be born while Sun is off the Island.
Anyone want to be a new writer for the show so we can get a full season?
Anyway, interesting ep this week. Loved it when Hurley met Anna-Lucia's old partner.

Unfortunately once the writers strike ended you'd be fired anyhow (scabbing isn't a permanent job) and you'd probably have to spend the whole time (seriously... probably would take a week or more) reading the all the info on the actual canon mythology just to be able to start writing a single episode without wrecking the whole continuity of the series.

Ok, any predictions on who else is in the Oceanic 6? So far we have Jack, Kate, and Hurley.

What is going on ! XD the beginning few minutes kinda turned things on its head IMO. I am gonna go with
I gotta think that either they are clones (with some side effects like say seeing the future, talking to dead people) and the company is just keeping them on the island for medical purposes (See the movie the Island XD) I think Jacob is actually Locke. Watch the scene again when Locke and Jacob are talking and once the door closes frame by frame it and it looks alot like Locke in the whell chair. But hey thats just a theory that i am just gonna say knowing basically no one will agree because i just decided thats my theory XD

I also used to think that Jacob was Locke...Until I saw a video of Jack's dad, Christian Shepherd, telling Vincent to go and find his son, because "he has work to do," the same words that "Walt" told Locke in the jungle after he was shot. Personally, I think that Jacob is the Monster--a shape-shifter. When I first saw him in his chair near the end of season three, I was sure that he was Locke with hair and a beard. When I saw him at season 4's opening, I'm thinking it's definitely Jack's dad, which goes on to explain how Jack's father was not in his coffin in the first few episodes, walking around the Island.

Here's a video that explains a bit of it--I'm still trying to find the original. XD

Well...
Jack, Kate, and Hurley, obviously, along with Sayid, Sun, and Jin. The "plus one" is obviously Sun and Jin's child, which I assume will be born while Sun is off the Island.

But what about Claire? According to Desmond's vision...shouldn't she be among those rescued? I suppose his interpretation must have been flawed.

I am also of the mind that Jacob is not human and can 'be' anyone he wants. I don't really think he's the black smoke monster directly, but he most likely controls it/them. In my mind, Jacob is essentially 'the voice' of the island.

Oceanic Airlines is trying to cover up the fact that people survived the crash

Why would an airline want to cover up people surviving the crash of one of their airplanes? Wouldn't that be a good thing for them? This whole hoax thing has me baffled. Who did it and for what reason? The most logical reason would be to make people to quit looking for the real crash-site. But still...what were the odds of that actually happening? This island has managed to avoid formal discovery for centuries. It's like a black hole...it sucks stuff in and doesn't let it go.

The clone theory is interesting...but substantiated. And if they were clones...wouldn't the pilot in the underwater wreck have had his wedding ring on?

I've thought about Claire and Desmond's vision, too, and I think it could be one of two things. Either Desmond's vision was misinterpreted, or Claire decided not to leave the Island after all. With Hurley's speech on "the last thing Charlie did before he died," it's very possible that Claire decided to stay on the Island and not leave, for the sake of Charlie's last act.
As far as who Naomi and Michael (or was it Matthew?) Abbadon (the tall black man) are working with...
I think it's Dharma. Dan, Miles, Charlotte, and the pilot whose name I'm forgetting claimed that they came to the Island for Ben Linus, and I think it's very possible that they're after him for leading the purge against the Dharma Initiative on the Island years ago. Just a theory, but I think it's possible. They could also have connections with Oceanic, but overall, I think they're working with Dharma.

Agreed, I think it's Dharma also. Miles certainly seemed hostile toward 'Ben and the natives', which would be very logical. I am curious about the personnel choices though...a physicist and anthropologist? I don't believe they were sent there merely to capture Ben...

I get the impression there's a theory about Oceanic being involved with Dharma. Is there any real clout to it? I still think flight 815 was a random victim...well at least as random as the island 'sucking in' Desmond's boat, the Black Pearl, the various small airplanes and such because of some similarly twisted fate for certain people on board.

Basically, last night's episode blew me away. XD
I'm VERY curious to know how Sayid and Ben ended up working together. And who are they working against? Also, we now know that the Island is...what was it, 31 minutes into the future, I think? I'm curious as to what that means and how it affects the Island.
I'm drawing a blank at the moment on the rest of the episode, but I'm definitely curious to see what some of your thoughts are! XD

I didn't make an effort to read all the posts, but my guess as to who the dude in the wheel chair is would have to be:
Jack's dad.
Is it true they are only showing eight episodes this whole year because of the writers strike?

Not anymore. The writers' strike ended a week or two ago, so we get the first 8 episodes of season 4, a month-long break, and then another 5 or 6 episodes after that, season finale included. They've re-written some episodes to bring the season finale more efficiently, so instead of a 16-episode season, as was planned, it'll be a 13-14 episode season, starting up again in the fall.

I'm glad they're bringing the island weirdness back into focus because that's one of the core interests for me as far as Lost goes. I still think it moves.

A S D F.
So Kate is taking care of Aaron now! Of course, I have to wonder what happened to Claire--is she dead? Why is she unable to care for Aaron herself? One thing that is explained is why Jack is uninterested in seeing the baby--after all, Claire was his illegitimate half-sister. If he knows that, he's going to be much more hesitant to want to meet the son of the woman his father bore illegitimately.

Also, I'm finding the parallels between this season and season 2 to be pretty interesting. The same thing happened between Ben and Locke in this episode as it did back in season 2. Ben said something to Locke to get under his skin, and Locke threw dishes against the wall. XDD Still, I'm trying to figure out just what Locke has up his sleeve. Why is he running his group the way he is? He got pretty hardcore with Miles, too; the grenade in the mouth surprised me. XD What I would like to know is why Miles wanted 3.2 million dollars from Ben. What was he planning to use it for? Why is he suddenly willing to give up his mission? He DID steal money in the woman's house from his backstory, but why does he specifically need 3.2 million dollars? I thought that was interesting.

That aside, I'm very interested in seeing what's happened to Sayid and Desmond. I'm also interested in why Daniel Farraday can't remember things very well. He seemed to have some memory loss issues while he was talking to Charlotte about the cards. Not sure what that's about.

Anyways. I'm very, very pleased with season 4 so far. XD

I wonder about the Kate and Aaron thing a lot... seems kind of strange. I'm currently wondering what the delay in arrival is for leaving the island now, since the delay coming in is 31 minutes, and the helicopter hasn't reached the ship after several hours. (3 hours 1 minute... 31 hours...)

The bit with miles and the grenade was pretty surprising to me too, and it seems like Locke's getting a little wilder, at least towards injuring people.

Anyone have theories on the 3.2 million?
Oh...I had forgotten about Clair and Jack's father. But my current hypothesis is that Claire did die...along with everyone who didn't get off the island and Jack somehow feels responsible for it...which is why he doesn't want to see Aaron (reminds him) and eventually starts doing drug/tries to kill himself (guilt ridden).
I'm still wondering how they're going to tie this all together though. I mean, I certainly hope this future doesn't pan out because it's mostly depressing. Perhaps they're doing it so that we'll be happy when they don't get off the island after all???

Miles has always come off as a bit 'mercenary' to me. I didn't think about it before, but you're right the money is probably for something important to him. And the cards thing was interesting. I don't know what's up with Daniel. He seems rather A.D.D. or something (in fact, this character role is very reminiscent of the one he played in Solaris) He and Charlotte are certainly the most mysterious characters at this point. HOLY CRAP.
That episode was AMAZING. I'm SO glad we're getting answers about Desmond and the Island and the whole future/past thing. This completely explains the Desmond-centric episode back in season 3. And I absolutely loved the scene at the end with Des and Penny. XD SO happy that they finally got to talk again. XD I think it's interesting, too, that Des will be Daniel's "constant," should anything happen to him. XD

Also, it was interesting to see the numbers resurface in a number of places. The number on Penny's house was "423" (42 AND 23. XD), another significant number in the episode was 2342, etc. I wonder if it's meant to be coincidental, or if it has some underlying meaning.

ALSO. HANSO WAS ON THE BLACK ROCK. That's INCREDIBLE. XD I want to go back and watch that scene again; I REALLY think that the Hostiles (Richard and those that were there before Dharma) are part of Hanso, and that information begins to solidify that theory. Incredible. XD
I've found two good, thought-provoking articles on Lost. The first is an interview with the actors and producers that brings up some good points, and the second is speculation on Daniel Faraday.

Last night's episode absolutely blew me away.
The scene where Sun visited Jin's grave was incredibly sad. I was amazed that there was both a flash-forward AND a flash-back in the same episode. That was an amazing way of making you think that Jin was still alive. Man.

Also, Ben planted the fake 815! That was insane. My brother and I both think that it's possible he had like, preserved bodies from the Purge and used them, but if that's not true, then who knows where he got all of those dead bodies...

Juliet needs a slap in the face. A huge slap in the face, regardless of her intentions.

Also, TOTALLY saw Michael coming. XD I can't wait to see Sayid tear him up. XD
