Ehh... I think I'm gonna give up on Coldheart Canyon. I like Clive Barker's short story stuff, but this is just repulsive. I need to get back to reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods. That one's more entertaining anyway.

I'm currently reading "Understanding Zoonotic Diseases" for my Animal Diseases and Public Health class --I just finished reading about Anthrax and now am reading about Brucellosis. This is one of the most interesting and fun classes I've had in a while --taught by a veterinarian and everything.

Just finished A Tale of Two Cities today! :jump: I really liked it, especially the beginning and the ending, lol. I plan on reading something a little lighter next, though.

Still reading the Phantom of the Opera. Can't seem to really sit down and read lately...

I'm reading a book called "The Princess and the Hound" as well as "Prophet" by Frank E. Peretti. And I finished "Saint" by Ted Dekker a couple days ago.

The School Story by (*runs to get book*) Andrew Clements. It's about a girl in the sixth grade who's trying to get her story published, and it's really good. Hits home with me, too, since I decided I wanted to be an author when I was in fifth grade.

Being Logical by DQ McInerny
Beowulf

I finally have an excuse to read this classic in a fairly literal translation. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to the Grendal fight yet, so I can't make a judgment concerning it. Meanwhile, the other book is very readable and seems to serve as a solid basis for logic.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

Continuing my coverage of old English literature. I don't like this one as much as Beowulf, given how excessive the descriptions are, but the plot seems interesting. Unfortunately, I know how it ends because this is such a common story.

Starving Jesus by Craig Gross and J.R. Mahon, Seize the Day by Saul Bellow, and I'm re-reading Shakespeare's King Lear for my literature criticism class.

What did you think of Blue Like Jazz? Donald Miller is far and away one of my favorite modern Christian authors, even if I don't agree with him sometimes (that's not why I read books, anyway). If you enjoyed it, I highly recommend Searching for God Knows What and Through Painted Deserts. To Own a Dragon is also very good, but it's hard to get through if you can't necessarily identify with the premise of the book.

Morte Darthur by Sir Thomas Malory, translated by William Caxton

Many of the Middle English spellings have been retained, so this inhibits swift reading significantly (though pondering how language evolves is fascinating, especially because I'm familiar with some of the archaic uses of words). But the stories themselves are interesting and well-written.

Discourse on the Method by René Descartes

I enjoy his writing, but I am still awaiting proof that his method can build up to significant matters. So far he has confined himself to mathematics as an example of broader principles, but I remain skeptical as to how easily it can apply to anything else.
